Get the students to learn the usage of the attributive clause

Enable the students to use attributive clause to describe a thing or a person.

1.To discover that learning grammar can be fun and English is around us 
2. Be more confident in learning grammar - the attributive clause 
         
教学过程
Step1. Lead-in
  Enjoy the flash and the English song “Red River Valley” to present three sentences
with attributive clauses.
(设计目的:通过听歌填词,引起学生对定语从句的注意和兴趣,并引出本节课的主题。)
 
Step2: The definition and structure of attributive clause定义和结构 
  Teacher will present a picture of herself, and lead students to say some attributes. And then teacher explains the antecedent, relative pronouns and clause.  
(设计目的:教师展示学生感兴趣的照片,引导学生自己说出定语从句,以便激发学生学习的自主性和积极性,再总结出概念性的知识。) 
 
Step3: the usage of relative pronouns:关系代词和关系副词的使用 
1.Teacher will show students some pictures about the local custom of the city, let students to choose one to discuss each time, and then students finish the exercises behind the pictures.
Students will identify different relative words based on the different pictures.
(设计目的:带领学生在欣赏了解当地文化风土人情的同时,为学生们创立更加真实而又贴近生活的语境,从而让学生轻松愉悦地学习定语从句。
 2. Observing grammar
1) The girl _________ is dressed in blue is Liu Huixia.
2) Liu Huixia  _______ hometown is Huangshi won the world diving championship.
3) These are delicious food ___________ many people like very much.
 
4) This is Dongfang Mountain ____________ there are many famous temples.

 Step 4: Practice time 
 Task 1: Applying grammar in a short passage about our city- Daye
Daye No.1 Middle school is a famous school, ______is one of the best schools in Hubei province. It is a beautiful and clean school, _____ we can't easily find any rubbish. I propose people visit our school in spring, _____ varieties of beautiful flowers are so charming. Here the teachers _______ are very excellent and qualified have made many great achievements. What's more, the students, _____ goal is to be admitted to a key university, are quite hardworking. To be brief, the reason _____  it is such a ideal school is that it provides us many chances to be a greater man.                                         
(设计目的:通过选择适当的关系词,巩固定语从句的结构和关系代词的基本使用.) 
Task 2: Guessing game: One student comes up to the blackboard, and he/she mustn’t look at the TV or computer. Teacher shows some pictures on the ppt. Other students use attributive clauses to describe the picture for the student to guess. Students can say more than one attributive clause. 一名学生来到讲台前面,不能看屏幕。教师在屏幕上依次展示几张图片,要求其他同学轮流用定语从句描述并让其猜,直到猜出来为止。  
(设计目的:我说我猜进行游戏,在游戏中训练学生说定语从句的能力,进一步强化学生对定语从句的理解和使用,并将枯燥的语法学习变得生动有趣,激发学生对英语的热情。) 
 
Task 3: Applying grammar in writing
Teacher shows a composition to students, but not any attributive clause is used in it.
Students will rewrite the assigned four sentences with attributive clauses. Four students will write the four more advanced sentences on the Bb. The other students have a discussion.
(设计目的:通过让学生改写作文中的普通句和合并两个简单句,使学生拥有了在写作中运用定语从句的意识,学会学以致用,让学生体会到自己也是具有学好英语的潜力,从而提高他们的信心。)
 
Step5. Appreciate some proverbs with attributive clauses
  Teacher shows some proverbs with attributive clauses, and students read them aloud together. Teacher stresses that it is necessary to keep them in mind and learn to apply them to their compositions.
(设计目的:通过让学生们一起大声朗读含有定语从句的谚语,不仅可以复习本节课内容,还可以让学生积累好词好句,同时还可以将情感教育融入本节课堂中。)
