Unit 4 Wildlife Protection
      Learning the new words about wildlife protection
Lesson Analysis:
This is a vocabulary building lesson. About the topic of this unit- wildlife protection, students’ vocabulary is limited, so the focus of this class is building relative memories using interesting and impressive pictures and guiding the students to apply the new words in relative language situation and learn to express their voice in helping wildlife protection. Applying is the focus.
 
Teaching Aims:
Language\Knowledge Aim:
Guide the Ss to memorize many new words about wildlife protection and practice them in real situations.
Ability Aim:
 a. Improve the Ss’ ability of memorize a new word using relative pictures rather than simple Chinese meaning like our first language acquisition.
b. Improve the Ss’ ability of applying the words in little speeches.
Emotion and Value Aims:
Guide the Ss to appreciate the importance of protect the wildlife and our mother nature and learn to appeal to people to pay more attention.
Teaching important points:
practicing and checking the new words repeatedly to help the students’ vocabulary building.
Teaching method: 1. individual, 2 the whole class, 3group work (giving little speeches)
Teaching aids :   a computer and a projector and a blackboard
 
Teaching procedures:
Step I Greetings and lead-in
Lead students to the topic by showing them a small video about desperate animals!
 
Step II Presentation and Discovering
lead the students to discover the key words they need to learn in the relative sentences whose meanings can help the students to remember the new words by presenting them many meaningful pictures.

  1. Africa has some of the most interesting wildlife in the world.
  2. As a true friend, Jerry will always provide protection to Tom.
  3. Don't get too close to the wild animals--they're hungry!
  4. A polar bear's habitat is Northern ice and snow.

  1. Task C:(group work)
make sentences using the word each group has been assigned to express what they want to say to human beings as a spokesman/spokeswoman of an endangered species or our mother nature.
 
Step Ⅳ Summary
use a video the teacher has prepared by herself to express her inner voice to protect wildlife and nature, and in this way, the students’ awareness of wildlife protection would be greatly enhanced after this class.
