Instructional objectives:
After this lesson, the students should be able to
1. Get to know the sentence structures: Where are you going? / When are you going? / How are you going? And use them in real situations.
2. Read and understand the dialogue and get the key information about the dialogue. 3. Say something about their own weekend plan. 4. Write something about their weekend.
Instructional materials: CAI, exercise paper
Time duration: 40 minutes
Instructional procedures:
Step 1: Warming up
1. Brain storm
Say some phrases begin with the words “do, play, make, go, clean”, and try to make some new sentences.
Step 2: Pre-reading activities
1. Talk in pairs
- Where are you going this weekend? - I’m going to …. - When are you going (to the …)? - I’m going …. - What are you going to do (in the …)? - I’m going to …. - How are you going (to the …)? - I’m going there …. 2. Let’s try
Listen and answer the questions: What is Amy / John going to do?
Listen, answer the questions and write down the answers: What is Amy going to do? / Is the ice cream for John?
Step 3: Reading activities
1. Read and answer the question: Where are John and Jack going next week? (1st Reading) 2. Read and fill in the table. (2nd Reading) Who Where What When How
Ask and answer in pairs. 3. Listen and repeat
Pay attention to the pronunciation.
Step 4: Writing Activities
1. Ask and answer in pairs about their weekend plan and finish the table. 2. Write about the weekend plan Ask about teacher’s weekend plan. T gives an example.
Ss try to write about their weekend plan.
Homework:
1. Try to read the dialogue better.
2. Talk about your weekend plan with your friends. 3. Interview your classmates and then give a report.
