figure out the main structure of the passage through the analysis of Problem-Solution pattern
know the value of cultural relics from the text to increase your cultural awareness.
describe the procedure of how to solve a problem.
express your own ideas on the given topics by critical thinking.
Lead-in: Memory competition.
Present some cultural relics in both China and Egypt. Students can know more about the topic and meanwhile, divide them into several groups to carry out a class competition as well as feeling the team work.

-文化遗产,并用竞赛形式激发学生的兴趣和动机。同时积累主题相关词汇。

Problem—Solution Pattern 问题

*Put the four procedures in correct order.
设计目的:使学生了解问题解决型阅读模式的基本结构,从而运用到以后类似文体的学习和练习。通过排序,小组讨论,加深思考和对该理论的理解。
Discourse Analysis: para1:
What's the topic sentence of para. 1? What's the function of the first paragraph?
para2:
1.Why did the Egyptian government want to build a new dam?
2.Did people support the proposal? Why?
3. What did the government do to deal with the problem?
para 3:
What's the topic sentence ?
How did the committe help solve the problem?
para 4:
What's the topic sentence ?
How were the temples and other cultural sites saved?
para 5:
1.What's the result of the project?
2. In what way does the completion of the project inspire you?
设计目的:通过语篇分析,找到主题句和支撑细节,并且总结出每一段所对应的问题解决步骤,把理论运用到具体的文本阅读中。通过一些问题的思考,加深对文本的理解。小组讨论,团队合作让每个人都积极参与。
Group work: finish the fishbone and then retell the passage:
设计目的:通过鱼骨图的设计,上面串起时间的数字,下面串起来其他数字。学生可以通过时间轴来梳理各个事件发生的顺序,从而达到复述文本的目的。同时,一些国家数量和花费金钱的数额更引出下面的批判性思考,这样的

Watch a video about COVID-19, and share your feelings.
