Analysis of the teaching material
This is a listening and talking about California. It introduces the history of California and describes the great scenes and different peoples as well as some movies based on the history. It also tells us when, how and why different people from all over the world have been immigrating to California . It explains to us the reasons why it will be a simple multicultural community in the 21st century. The passage helps to develop Ss’ culture awareness and cross-culture communicative skills. 1.Watch a movie and listen to a song 2. Guess the name of the song. 3. Fill the blanks of the song.
Students can guess the name of the song ------California dream.
( 设计意图:通过《阿甘正传》,引入本节课的话题,让学生了解一些关于加州的知识,提起他们对于进一步了解加州的兴趣,从而展开对于这节课的教学。 ) Step 2: Detailed listening
1. Ask the students to listen the detailed parts and answer the questions. 2. Ask the students to draw some lines on the map. 3. Ask the students to answer questions.
( 设计意图: 此环节通过认真听具体的材料, 学生能很直观的了解到加州历史阶段的移民 , 让他们能比较详细了解加州整个发展历史 , 对其文化多元性有个深刻的理解。 )
Step 3: Describe Xiaogan using words and expressions. 1. Ask the students to discuss different topics about Xiangan.
2. Different groups discuss different topics --- location, climate, food, scenery. (设计意图:通过讨论,使学生进一步熟悉和理解家乡------孝感,使学生学会描述一个地方。) Step 4 : Homework
1. Make a summary of the different topics. 2. Write a passage about Xiaogan.
