一、课题内容:Topic Vocabulary(1) 二、课型: 词汇课 三、教学背景
Analysis of students:
本节课是一节词汇复习课,授课对象为高二年级学生。词汇是英语学习的重点,也是英语学习的基础。但是由于本校的学生英语基础比较薄弱,不愿意背单词,词汇量较差,最终导致对英语学科不感兴趣,甚至放弃英语这门学科。因此本节课主要是以“emotions”这一话题为例,为学生提供一种记忆单词的行之有效的方法。希望通过本节课的学习,绝大多数学生能够学会记忆单词的方法,词汇量能够有所提升,从而激发他们学习英语的兴趣,增强在考试中答题的自信。 四、教学目标:
1.学会并能熟练运用和emotions相关的词汇和短语。
2.在游戏中,在解决问题的过程中,学会记忆单词的有效方法,同时培养学生的思维品质和学习能力。
3.改变学生对单词的反感,增强背单词的自信。 五、教学重难点:
重点:熟记和运用与emotions 相关的词汇和短语。
难点:掌握记忆单词的方法并能延伸到英语学习的其他方面。 六、教具:PPT, Handouts and blackboard
七、教学方法:Communicative language teaching and learning 八、教学过程: Step1. Lead-in
【Purpose】To make students realize the importance of reciting words in English study.
1. To show the words of Wilkings "Without grammar, very little can be conveyed. Without vocabulary, nothing can be conveyed." 2. Questions: Do you like reciting English words? Should you do it? Step2. Self-directed Learning
【Purpose】To make students learn and summarize words related to emotions by themselves, stimulating their interests and developing their learning ability.
The teacher shows some pictures about different emotions. Based on each picture, students can think of one word to describe it easily. However, as we all know, there are many words which have the same or similar meanings.
Activity1: Students are asked to think out other related words. This is the form of Mind mapping. In this way, students can enlarge their vocabularies. During the process, the teacher will show students the words that they can't think out. Activity2: Group Discussion
To invite students to write down the phrases related to some words. Think Further:
Questions: 1. Which phrase has the same meaning with" be bored with"? 2. Which word can replace " discourage"? 3. What is the structure of "to one's surprise"?
4. Can you think of another phrase similar to " be disappointed with"? Step3. Knowledge Test
【Purpose】To help students memorize and strengthen words and phrases. The exercises are arranged in different levels, from easier to harder, to check whether students achieve the learning aims. Test1: Games
To invite one student to perform in front of others. The student shows different expressions by body language and other students guess the words. In this way, they can review the words once again.
Test2: Choose numbers and answer questions
Given six numbers, the students can choose any one they like. Behind different numbers, there are different questions to answer. In this way, students can review and learn to apply the words and phrases. Test3: Writing
To invite students to translate five sentences and use the words and phrases learned in this class. After 8 minutes, ask at least 3 students to show their sentences. Other students correct the mistakes. Step4. Summary and Reflection
【Purpose】To enable students to look back this class on the whole and reflect something about the class.
Ask students to summarize what they have learned in this class in the form of Mind mapping. Meanwhile, they should estimate their performance of this class and improve themselves. Play a video about crazy English as the end of the class. Step5. Homework
【Purpose】To make students strengthen the knowledge of this class. The homework is intended for all students in different levels. 1. Draw the Mind mapping of words about emotions. 2. Polish the writing part. 九、板书设计
