When do you receive gifts? From whom? What is the greatest gift?

(导入中设计的问题“你什么时候收到礼物,收到谁的礼物”与学生的生活相关,也与故事中的圣诞节的背景,Della和Jim互赠礼物向对应,“什么是最珍贵的礼物?”通过引导让学生说出“爱”,与故事结尾的主题向呼应。)

(此环节把所有的问题都抛给学生,让学生从整体上去理解故事的情节,并在各个情节中体会主人公的情感变化,并找出能体现这些变化的表达。通过这个活动,学生能体会到欧亨利的写作特点,作者细致地描述Della无钱为丈夫买礼物的焦灼心情,德拉的美发,甚至写德拉上街卖发和买表链的全过程,细致地描写Jim回家后德拉担心失去美发会伤害Jim的爱所作的一连串解释,以及两人在交换礼物时的心情和戏剧式的结尾。)
