教材分析
This is the fourth teaching period of this unit.The teacher let students’ enjoy a song, then lead in the new lesson.
In this period, the teaching emphasis will be put on developing students’ listening, reading and speaking ability by listening to Freddy’s story. We will deal with three parts: Listening, reading and speaking in Using language on page 38.
Listening , reading and speaking tells students about the success of Freddy and the pain of being famous. It also helps students to improve their listening, reading and speaking skills. The purpose of this listening exercise is to get the gist of a story. So students should pay attention to some listening strategies, such as not necessary to understand every word, ignore what they don’t understand, concentrate on what they do, etc. The reading exercise is the second part of the story of Freddy. After reading students will get better understand the whole story of Freddy. While reading, get students learning to use some reading strategies such as skimming, scanning, and so on. The speaking exercise is the third part of the story of Freddy, speaking is a practical activity which occurs often. So students will find practicing these phrases will be useful in many other situations where you have to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of being famous with friends.
After the class, let students learn and enjoy the song “Help!”. 三维目标 知识目标
1.Get students to learn some useful new words and expressions in this part: frog, dip, confident, grown-up, appreciate, knock into, feel down, on one’s own, etc. 2.Get students to listen to and read the story about Freddy.
3.Let students express their opinions about the advantages and disadvantages of being famous. 能力目标
1.Train students’ listening ability by by listening to the story about Freddy.
2.Develop students’ reading skills by extensive reading and enable them to learn how to use different reading skills to read different reading materials.
3.Enable students to express theirs opinions on the pain of being famous. 情感目标
1.Enable students to know more about famous bands and their songs to stimulate students’ love of music.
2.Develop students’ sense of group cooperation and teamwork.

1.Develop students’ reading skills by extensive reading.
2.Let students listen to the story about Freddy.
3.Let students express their opinions about the advantages and disadvantages of being famous.
教学难点
1.Enable students to learn to use reading strategies such as skimming, scanning, and so on.
2.Let students learn to use listening strategies to get the gist of the story and some needed information.

教学过程
Step 1 Warming up and leading in
1.Divide the whole class into four teams and let the leader of each team introduce his/her team to us.
2.Let students read the learning goals together.
3.Let students enjoy a song, while listening, bear this question in mind “ When their songs are famous, what will happen to their life? 4.Before listening, introduce about the frog-Freddy. Step 2 Listening
1.Let students know more new words before listening.
2.Play the tape for students to listen to the story and put some pictures in order.
3.Play the tape again. Students take notes while listening. Then decide whether each of the following statements is true or false. (1) Freddy had changed from a man to a frog.
(2) He felt lonely in his lake till he met his friends on the lily leaf. (3) The singers of the band could sing very loudly.
(4) Freddy thought he could sing as well as the other singing frogs. (5) Freddy was very confident about his singing.
(6) He sang the song to ask the other frogs to be his friends. Keys: F T T F F F Step 3 Reading
Tell the students: Turn to Page 38. We are going to read more about Freddy’s life-Freddy the frog(II). 1.Fast reading
Play the tape for students to listen to and summarize the main idea of the story in one sentence. 2.Detailed reading
Ask students to read the passage carefully and answer the following questions. (1)What was Freddy’s most exciting invitation?
(2)What problem was caused after they became stars? (3)Did Freddy and his band leave Britain last?
3.Check the answers with the whole class and deal with any language problems.
4.Give students several minutes, retell the story according to the outline(on the screen).
Step 4 Game time
Let students follow a video, do same actions.If someone is wrong, he/she will come to the front sing a song for us. Step 5 Speaking
1.Let students have a debate: Pros (正方):
It is good to become famous.(Advantages of being famous). Cons(反方):
It is not good to become famous.(Disadvantage of being famous). 2.Decide which side is better. Step 6 Conclusion
From this class, we know the story of Freddy and enjoy the song “Help!”. Step7 Homework
1.Finish off the Workbook exercises. 2.Learn and enjoy the song “Help!”.
