一.Brief Introduction:
Material: This unit (NSEFC Book 6 —— Unit 2) introduces the students to several simple forms of poems. It takes a look at some poetic devices like rhythm, rhyme, repetition, sound patterns and imagery. It includes poem forms that English speakers have adopted from other countries. The poem forms in this unit include ones that students can use as models to create their own poems.
Students: Grade Two in Senior High School Course Type: warming up & reading Time: 45 minutes
二.Teaching aims:
1. Understanding the general meaning of the new text to train the reading ability of the students
2. To cultivate students’ interest of poetry.
三.Teaching Important & Difficult Points:
How to help the students to grasp and remember the detailed information of the reading material.
四.Teaching aids:
a tape recorder, a projector, Slides and Pictures
五.Teaching Procedure: Step I: Lead in
Can you remember any poems you have read in school, either in Chinese or in English? Can you recite any?
Step II: Pre-reading
Appreciation: Enjoy some poems

Step III: Fast reading: Read fast to answer the following questions: 1. What is the main topic of the reading passage?

Step V: Post reading
Task one: Fill in the blanks: Characteristics Forms They have strong rhyme and a lot of repetition. They are made up of 17 syllables, and give a picture and a special feeling.
They repeated phrases and some rhyme, and easy to write. They are made up of 5 lines, and convey a strong picture, and easy to write.
Their translations have a free form.
