一、Teaching aims: 1.Knowledge Aims:
Enjoy the words and expressions.
For example: hit,climber,situation,mean, spirit,take risks, run out of,be in control of and so on. 【设计意图】:采用learning by themselves or in groups 等策略,让学生进行文章的阅读,在学习了单词、词组的基础上,注意单词和词组在句子、文段中的应用。 2.AbilityAims :
To improve the reading skills of skimming and scanning . To improve the students’ writing skills .
【设计意图】:采用learning by themselves or in groups 等学习策略,利用教学图片或制作多媒体课件展开课堂教学,提高学生skimming and scanning的阅读能力,通过帮助别人解决健康问题和医生病人的对话写作等方式学习给别人建议。 3.Emotion Aims:
To know the importance of making good decisions and being in control of our life. To give advice about accidents or problems.
【设计意图】:本节课的学习给学生人生的启迪,通过文章的学习,教育学生把握人生的方向,在重要时期做出好的决定;写作主题是谈论健康问题和给出建议,进一步促进学生之间的互相帮助,帮助别人就是帮助我们自己。其次着重提高学生对英语的学习热情,树立学习英语的自信心,并培养学生观察和主动竞争的意识。 二、Difficult and Main points:

Did you have a good weekend?(Yes) What did you do on the weekend? Ask some students to answer the teacher’s question.( I did my homework./I watched some wonderful movies) Did you go to the cinema? (No)Where did you watch the movies?( ON the Internet) Students, Do you like watching movies ? (Yes) Today I introduce you a movie “127hours” 【Before reading】
Let the students watch a video and find out : Who’s the man?
What happened to the man at the end of the video?
【设计意图】: 通过与学生的交流,拉近与学生的距离,引导学生观看127hours 视频。让学生带着问题去观摩视频,一是集中学生的注意力,二是引起学生思考,视频与本节课的内容有什么联系。
Step2 Leading in
After watching the video, let the students answer the teacher’s questions. Who is the man?What happened to the man at the end of the video? (He is Aron Ralston.He was caught under a big rock)Then ask “What does every second counts?” “Do you think the man will survive or die?
Then the teacher introduces : Aron Ralston is a mountain climber who is known for taking risks .Do you want to read his story?
【设计意图】:学生通过视频的观看,抓住了关键人物,同时知道了事件,很想了解时间的结果和人物的故事,从而有了好奇心和学习的兴趣。 Step3【While reading:】

【设计意图】:指导学生scanning 的方法(快速阅读文章,寻找特定的信息,寻找能回答问题的相关信息。),通过表格信息,让学生对人物进行初步了解。 Learning Para 2: What happened on that day?
Skimming:Looking quickly to find the main idea without reading every word.. 1.What happened to Aron on that day? 2.How long did he stay there? 3.How did Aron free himself?
4.What did he do after he freed himself?
Reading Para 3 What did he do after the accident?
1.Aron wrote a book called________.He tells of _________,and __________. 2.Aron loves climbing mountains so much that he ___________ after his experience. 3.What does “between a Rock and a Hard Place” means ?
【设计意图】:指导学生skimming方法,(理解文章的大意而不需要阅读每一个单词,来掌握本文大意和各个段落的大意)在这一环节中,通过学生的自学、小组讨论等形式,让学生对文段进行更详尽地了解。
Reading Para4 : Learn from Aron
Aron is brave so he cut off his arm to save his life?What should we do if we are between a rock and a hard place?let the students talk about the question.Then choose some students to answer the question. Make good decisions/ be in control of one’s life/never give up/be brave/have the spirit.
【设计意图】:通过这一环节让学生讨论一下我们面临生死是应该怎么做,从而教育学生在今后的学习和生活中永不放弃,勇敢面对生活中的困难,给予学生情感教育。 Step4【After reading:】Retell the text
Give the students three minutes to prepare to retell the story.

In our daily life ,we may meet many kinds of difficulties or health problems. What should we do if we can’t solve them by ourselves? (We can ask others for help) Helping others is helping ourselves, so we should give others advice if we are asked for help. Show them four pictures ,let them talk about them in pairs, then check the answers.
【设计意图】:通过这一环节,以小组为单位,同学间进行交流,加强学生之间的合作,让学生在遇到健康问题给出建议,给下面的书面表达做铺垫。
Step 6Writing : If you don’t feel well,you often go to the hospital,the doctor can give you some advice.Write a conversation between the doctor and the student using the notes.

【设计意图】:小结本节课学到什么,由学生进行总结,回顾本节课所学内容,在巩固知识的同时,给学生一个完整的轮廓,为运用知识或后来知识的学习做铺垫。 六、Homework 基础性作业:
Collect the beautiful sentences on the notebooks. 实践性作业:
Search the Internet for some information about mountain climbing or other extreme sports(极限运动). 【设计意图】:作业的布置与本节课的两个重要环节息息相关,通过异步作业将课堂延伸到课外,使不同层次的学生各得其所,保持他们学习语言的热忱。 七、Invaluable advice:
Life is like mountain climbing, Which is full of challenges. We should face them bravely. Take control of your life, keep positive to face life.
【设计意图】:在结束本节课时设计这一环节,让学生在向Aron学习的同时,给于学生人生指导,无论遇到什么困难,我们都要勇敢地面对,把握人生,积极面对生活。
