Step 1
Lead-in
Show students the pictures of the characters in the story and review some words.
Review the story by watching a role-play. Step 2
Free talk
1. Look at the possible endings to the story about the unhappy king. ( Activity 1a)
2. What do you think of the endings?
3. Can you think of any other possible endings to the story? Discuss your ideas with your partner. (Activity 1b) Step 3
Prediction
Make a prediction by studying the picture in 1c. Step 4
Activity 1c
Listen and check (√) the things that happened in the rest of the story.
Check the answers by asking and answering. Step 5
Activity 1d
Listen again. Answer the questions.
Check the answers by playing the recording again and pausing to make students repeat.
