Teaching objectives: In this class,
1. students are able to understand what Wang Kun and Wang Wei saw and what they did by following the timeline; in the meanwhile students are able to learn some useful words and expressions like be recognized as, so…that, can hardly wait to, see sb. doing, To do sth. is/was…;
2. students are able to figure out how Wang Kun’s feeling changed during the trip through reading and understanding Wang Kun’s vivid descriptions;
3. students are able to appreciate the figures of speech and beautiful descriptive sentences used in the journal by sharing and use them to polish the writing by making sentences with given situations and working in groups. Teaching procedures: Step1 Leadin and pre-reading
1. Review the first part of the travel journal.
T: We previously learnt there would be a lot of difficulties along Wang Wei and Wang Kun’s journey. But they still continued.Today we’ll follow Wang Kun and Wang Wei and come to the second part of his travel journal.Turn to page 22 and find out where they spent their night.
Ss: In a Tibetan mountain.
2. Get to know more information about Tibet so as to better understand the difficulties of the
trip.
Tshows them some pictures about Tibet to the students to let them know more about it, such as its location, and ask them to predict:
T: What difficulties will they meet in the mountain? Ss: Students’ answers may vary.

3. Get the information about what they saw and what they did.

4. Understand and appreciate sentences

修辞角度去欣赏文本中的美言佳句,强化语言的输入,为写作做好铺垫。
7. Use the figures of speech and sentence patterns to polish the writing given to the students
which is not so well-written.
T: On National Holiday, my little brother, who is still at his middle school, climbed the Daqi Mountain and wrote a journal. Here is a paragraph from his journal. I think it is not perfect enough, so as senior high school students, can you polish it to make it a better one?
I went to Daqi Mountain on National Holiday. There were lots of trees on both sides of the road. The wind blewthe trees and the trees kept waving in the wind.And there is a calm and clear lake. We
could find many fishes in the lake. When we arrived at the top of the mountain, we were very tired. Butthe air there was very fresh and the views were very great. The sun was very warm, and it helped us forget the tiredness of climbing the mountain. It was an interesting journey and we all had fun there.
Possible version:
I went to Daqi Mountain on National Holiday.At the foot of the mountain, there were lots of trees on both sides of the road. Along the way, we saw many trees wavinglike dancers in the wind.In the middle of the mountain, there is a calm and clear lake shone like a mirror. We saw many fishes swimming freely in the lake, like many flowing, colorful ribbons. To climb Daqi Mountain was hard work. Butwhen I arrived at the top of the mountain, I found the air there was so fresh and the views were so great that we felt as if we were in paradise(天堂). The sun was so warm that it helped us forget the tiredness of climbing the mountain. It was an interesting journey and we all had fun there.
