本课重点学习一些常见国家的英文表达，以及该国在初次见面时的行为与语言, 该话题能激起学生的好奇心，调动学生学习英语的积极性。其中有口语练习和小组活动。内容相对来说较简单，重点帮助学生练习“be supposed to do” 的用法，在不断的练习中达到掌握以及熟练运用的目的。
学情分析
初三学生通过以前三年的英语学习，一部分学生有很好的基础，但有少数学生学习目的不明确，克服困难的决心和勇气不大。因此在教学中要采取分层次教学，要激励和指导班上那些学有余力的学生，同时也为那些不善表达的学生提供必要的支持,让语言不够流利的学生有足够的时间理解和操练每一个新语言项目。结对活动和小组活动对各个层次的学生都有帮助。在由不同层次学生组成的对子和小组中，尖子生在帮助后进生的同时自己也复习了所学知识，这是非常有价值的。
教学目标
1. 语言知识目标： 1) 学习掌握下列词汇： relaxed, value, capital, noon, mad, effort, drop by, after all, get mad, make an effort 2）复习 be supposed to句型。 3）如何正确的阅读课文。 4）通过阅读学会写作。 2. 情感态度价值观目标：
1）通过“应该” 与“不应该”进一步了解一些国家的礼仪和对时间的看法。 2）了解不同国家的不同的时间观念， 加强对中国文化的理解。 教学重点与难点
1. 教学重点：
1) 掌握本部分出现的生词和词组，达到熟练运用的目标。
2) 阅读短文，获得相关的信息。通过阅读练习，来提高阅读能力。 3)结合课文进行写作。 2. 教学难点：
1) 阅读短文，获得相关的信息的能力。 2) 理解并运用所学的词汇及表达方式。 3）会用自己的语言组织写作。

在本节课的教学过程中，我采用了“任务型”的教学途径，通过小组合作的方式，并借助多媒体，增加趣味性和直观性，增大课堂容量，提高课堂效率，各个环节由易到难，环环相扣，面向全体学生，争取让每一个学生都能参与到教学活动中来，得到练习的机会，教学目标圆满完成，大部分学生在这节课后能准确流利的使用所学短语以及单词进行自由会话和写作。 缺 点
这堂课基本用全英语授课，导致基础不是太好的学生在理解上有些困难，从而不能很好的听懂老师的要求，课堂气氛有时不够活跃。
改 进 措 施
1.通过教学环节设计使学生对每个环节都比较感兴趣，能够在轻松快乐的氛围中学习和使用英语，体验学习英语的乐趣。
2.进一步加强分层教学，使不同层次的学生都能有所收获和提高。

Linda: Oh, yes. But I was a bit hurt about the way they treated my present. I gave Zhang the latest tapes from the U.K. as a birthday present when I got inside the door and what do you think happened?
Tom: What?
Linda: Nothing. They only said thank you, but then just put them away in a corner. I really didn’t know why. Didn’t they like them?
Tom: Oh, That’s misunderstanding(误解). In the west, it’s regarded as polite to open gifts as soon as they are given to express appreciation. But in China, if you did that, you might be thought greedy (贪婪的). So Chinese people tend to open the gifts after the visitors have left.
