Ⅰ. Teaching Material
1. The Status and Function:
This book comes from Collins BIG CAT. This story is about a lion and a mouse. The lion was kind to the mouse and one day the mouse saved the lion. In this story, the dialogue between the two characters can expand students' imaginative space.
2. Teaching objectives and demands: (1) Knowledge Objectives: ①After the class, students know the new words and phrases: sleeping, playing, net, bit, free, saved, got you, go away.
②Students read the story and know Being kind to someone is never a waste.
(2) Ability Objectives:
①Students can predict the plot of the story with their imagination. ②Students can read the story with emotions. (3) Emotion Objectives:
①Students can be more interested in readings.
②students can know Being kind to someone is never a waste! (4) The key points and difficult points: Help students read the story with emotions. (5) Teaching aids:
PPT, stuffed toy, flashcards, headwear, pictures.
Ⅱ. Teaching Methods and Learning Methods
The Task-based teaching method and the Cooperative learning method can increase the class efficiency, arouse the students’ learning interest and make the students learn about teamwork.
Ⅲ. Teaching Procedures
Step1 Warm-up & Lead-in
1.Greet students.
2.Watch a video At the Zoo then talk about the animals in the video. 3.Play a guessing game.
4.Introduce the stuffed toy lion and mouse. Step 2 Pre-reading
1.Enjoy the story by watching a video.
2.Show the cover page. Read the title and the writer.
3.Look at the lion and the mouse. Guess: Can they be friends?

Step 3 While-reading
1.Read page 2-3.
Look at the pictures and ask questions.
What was the lion doing? and What was the mouse doing? 2.Read page 4-9.
(1)Listen and repeat the sentences: The lion opened his eyes. He saw the mouse. (2)Imitate the lion: Grrrr. Got you.
(3)Guess: if you were the mouse, what would you say to the lion? (4)Listen, read and imitate the mouse: Let me go! I’m so small. (5)Question: What would the lion do to the mouse?
A. Eat the mouse. B. Let the mouse go.
(6)Role play. 3.Read page 10-13.
(1)What happened to the lion? (2)Can a mouse help a lion?
(3)How did the mouse save the lion?
(4)After the mouse saved the lion, what would the lion say? (5)Role play. Step 4 Post-reading
1.Group work. Read and order the pictures. 2.What do you learn from the story?
