Period 1 Story time
Step one: Warm up 1. Greet with the students 2. Enjoy a song Let the students answer:
T: What can you see in the song? S: I can see ... .
Purpose: Let them know the teacher and lighten the atmosphere. Make them know what we are going to learn today.
Step two: Presentation 1. My animal friend?
Teacher draw an animal on the blackboard, let the students guess what it is. Then, teach some new words. New words: arm, body, leg, tail. 2. Let’s read! Read the new words. 3. Play a game
Show the rule and let the students stand up and repeat the sentence if it is also the students’ feature.
Purpose: The introduction of My animal friend helps the students to learn some new words and train their ability of thinking. My animal friend is a main clue in the whole lesson. The game helps to improve the students’ reading and listening ability.
Step three: Story time 1. Watch and match
Let the students match the masters and the animals after watching the
vedio.
2. Listen and underline Let them find the right pictures.
Do some analyze about the key sentences. 3. Let’s read 4. Fill in the blanks 5. Let’s judge
Show some sentences, and let the students judge true or false. 6. Let’s read 7. Fill in he blanks
Let the students fill the blanks by themselves by using the method they uesd in the former steps. 8. Let’s read.
Purpose: All the steps help to make the students have a better understanding of the whole text, improve the students’ ability of listening, reading, and speaking ability. Also, the students may learn some ways to learn by themselves.
Step four: Consolidation 1. Your animal friend?
Let the students describe their animal friend by using the following sentence patterns: We have an animal friend. It’s ... . It has ... . It has ... . It can ... .
Then, let the other students guess what it is. 2. Enjoy some pictures Let the students know:
Animals are our friends. Love them! Protect them!
Purpose: Improve the student’s ability of using the key sentence patterns they learnt today. Also, let them know we should love and protect animals.
Step five: Homework Set homework about story time.
Purpose: Set some goals for the students to achieve; tell the students to practice after school.
