Analysis on Learners
The Ss are not content with the limited knowledge obtained from the textbooks. Instead, they are eager to learn something different and knowledgeable. So what I need do is to help them how to involved in a completely different culture effectively and keep up their passion for learning English.
Analysis On the Teaching Material
Teaching Content
The reading passage titled New Zealand briefly
describes two aspects of this country. At the end of the lesson, the Ss are required to get a better understanding of the details of its geography and history. Meanwhile, they are assigned to write a short passage based on the information in the text. Teaching Aims
Knowledge
(1) Get the Ss to master some useful words and phrases.
(2) Make the Ss aware of the content of the lesson, and form their own opinions on how to describe a country. Abilities
(1) To develop the Ss’ abilities of speaking, reading and writing. (2) To train the Ss’ abilities of studying by themselves and through cooperating. Emotion
By completing the tasks, the students can increase their interest and set up self-confidence in learning English and gain some useful learning strategies.
Important Points Get students to analyze the structure of the text and master related words & phrases effectively.
Difficult Points Help the Ss understand the detailed information of geography and history of New Zealand.

Step 1 Warming up (4 min) 1. Greetings
2.Do some T or F to check how much the Ss are aware of New Zealand. Arouse the Ss' interest and lead in the
topic.
Step 2. Pre-reading (2 min)
Glance at the title and subtitles and then read fast for the general idea of the whole text. Serve as a warming up to get Ss to
predict what will be mentioned in
the text.

Step 3 While-reading (26 min) Part One. Geography
Task 1. Skimming (group work)
The Ss are required to skim the first part and get the main idea of each paragraph.
Task 2. Scanning (pair work; individual work) Find out the detailed information and fill in the blanks with the right words or phrases. Meanwhile, paraphrase some difficult words if necessary.
Part Two. History
Task 1. Match the main ideas. (group work)
1. Enable students to understand the given
material better
by using different
reading skills.
2. “Task-based”
teaching
method is used here to develop the Ss’ ability of communication and also their ability of cooperation will be well trained.
3. Improve the Ss’ abilities of speaking and reading through cooperating.
