The Present Perfect Passive Voice
Ⅰ. Teaching Objectives:
By the end of this class period, students will be able to:
1. Discover and understand the present perfect passive voice.
2. Analyze the grammar features and generalize the rules of the present perfect passive voice.
3. Learn to apply the grammar into practice, such as speaking and writing. 4. Be concerned about social issues and improve the sense of national pride. Ⅱ. Teaching Difficulties:
1. How to help students generalize the rules of the grammar.
2. How to inspire and guide students to write an essay by using the present perfect passive voice.
3. Use — “have / has + been + V.pp” correctly.
4. The agreement of the subject and the verb as well as the exchange between subject and object in Passive Voice. Ⅲ. Teaching Aids:
A video of our school; A video of China’s four new great inventions; Blackboard; Chalks;A hand-out (learning plan ) and PPT.

Teacher’s Activities and Questions
Purpose
Step 1: Revision
Teacher shows some pictures about the development of the computers mentioned in the text in Reading Part. calculating machine → analytical machine ↓ huge machine ← universal machine
↓
PC ( Personal computer ) / desktop →laptop
Step 2: Lead in Teacher asks the students to fill in the blanks by using correct verb structures.
As is known to all, the computer is one of the most
important inventions in the 20th century. Over time the
computer 1 has been changed (change) quite a lot. It began

out what is the same. Help the Ss to
generalize the structure of the grammar. Help the Ss to
understand the grammar better.

understand when to use the present
perfect tense. And in this way help them know when to use the present perfect passive voice.
Help the Ss to
understand the most important part in the grammar structure is to change the verb “be” into past participle form “been”.
Step 4. Apply what we have learnt:
Task 1: Teacher asks the students to finish the sentences by using the Present Perfect Passive voice.
(1) They have finished the construction of the new bridge by now. →The construction of the new bridge __________________ by them by now.
(2) We have built a new library in our school this year.
→A new library _________________________ in our school this year.
(3) My mother has taught me to be honest since I was very
young.
→I ______________________ (by my mother) to be honest since I was young.
(4) Car accidents have killed ten persons on this road in the
past few months.

(5) We have used the TCM (Traditional Chinese medicine) to
treat cancers for a long time.

(6) They have not finished the construction of the new railway

Task 2: Do some exercises in the College Entrance Examinations.

Step 5. Consolidations :
Teacher shows some old photos of our school. And then show a video about new campus. Help the students to compare them, Practice the
grammar pattern in completing the sentences.
Help the Ss to focus
on how to change the present perfect active voice into the present perfect passive voice.
Pay attention to how
to change the object in active voice into the subject in passive voice.
Help the Ss to
experience the present perfect passive voice in the College Entrance Examinations.

Ⅴ. Blackboard Design
and then the students have to try to use the Present Perfect Passive Voice as much as possible to describe the changes of our school. 1. Discuss and write down:
What has been changed in our school in the past few
years?
2. Presentation: Ask some Ss to report their answers.
Step 6. Homework: Finish the composition.
