教学目标:
1) 语言知识(knowledge): a.语音(phonology):能基本读出文章中的生词
b.词汇(vocabulary):能理解、内化、运用以下单词及
短语functions; calculate, simplify, analytical, solve some mathematical problems, technological revolution artificial intelligence, applications.
c. Ss will be able to learn about the development of the
computers in terms of time, identity and function.
2) 语言技能(skills): a. 读:通过快速阅读及细节阅读获得相关信息且进行
skimming, scanning, further understanding等阅读微技能训练
b. 说:通过鼓励学生自己创造新型电脑进行口头表达 c. 写:能在课后对口头表达落实到笔头,对课堂所学内容
有一个较好的输出
3)学习策略:交际策略;认知策略;调控策略
4)情感态度:a.让学生感受到古代电脑发明者的智慧和创造力 b.培养合作精神
5)文化意识: 帮助学生了解电脑的发展史
教学重点和难点:
1)Students will be able to learn about the development of the computer in terms of time, functions and identity
2)Students will be able to have a thorough understanding of the title.

教学过程:
Step1 课前准备
Before the class, a short video will be played. Actually, it is a part from the Lion King. 设计意图:为在课堂上导入computer的话题做准备,同时为学生创造一个轻松的课堂氛围。
Step2: Pre-reading
1)Ask students to talk about their opinion of the cartoon character Simba, which will
naturally lead to today’s topic---computer.
2) Students will be asked to speak about the computer’s daily functions. 设计意图:通过对狮子王主人公辛巴的探讨,自然的把从卡通人物引到本课的主题电脑;电脑是学生非常熟悉的物品,要求学生对其日常的功能进行探讨,并交代词汇function对下面的活动进行铺垫。
3)Ask students to predict who I am in the passage?
设计意图:对完成整篇阅读后重新回到此问题进行铺垫。
Step3 Fasting reading
1)Ask Ss to read the passage very quickly and find out the main idea of each paragraph.
2) Emphasize the skill of finding the main idea
3)Based on the main idea of each paragraph, students will be asked to
summarize the main idea of the whole passage.
设计意图:培养学生快速阅读、分析概括的能力,养成整体阅读的习惯,即首先关注语篇的内容或结构并理解其大意。
Step4:Careful reading
Para1: 1)Read the first paragraph carefully and find out what happened in 1642,
1822, 1936 and since the 1970s. Ss will be asked to point out the name of the computer at that time as well as its function.
2) Ss will be asked to think about why computers became smarter even if the size of it became smaller
设计意图:学生通过对这4个时间段的查找能自然的了解计算机的发展史,搞清楚在各个时间段它的另外一个身份及功能,这也是本堂课的重点。在这过程中能培养学生scanning能力,理解并掌握单词functions, calculate, simplify, analytical, solve some mathematical problems,technological revolution artificial intelligence Para2& Para3: 1) Read these two paragraphs carefully and answer the questions
How did these changes become possible?
What new applications have been found for me?
Big challenge: Find out three different feelings mentioned in
para2 & para3
2)Ask Ss to answer why the computer became happy.
设计意图:学生通过此环节可以了解计算机尺寸变小但脑力变强的原因及电脑在当今社会的应用;得出第二段及第三段计算机的另外身份也是本课的重难点所在,为总结全文及更好的回答who am I 做准备;联系人类实际要互相合作及帮助才能生活的开心。在这过程中能培养学生scanning能力,理解并掌握单词network,applications。
Step5: Summary of the passage
Ask Ss to answer the question “ who am I ” again.
设计意图:对于这篇内容进行总结,更好的理解计算机的多重身份,并为下一环节做铺垫。
Step 6 Post reading:
Introduce the new kind of computer iPad created by Steve Jobs’ Apple Corporation and then ask Ss to design a new kind of computer
设计意图: 激发学生的创造力和想象力,培养学生的合作能力及口头表达的能力
Step7:Summary and Homework
Encourage Ss to be creative again and assign the homework
设计意图:能在课后对口头表达落实到笔头,有一个很好的输出。
