Ⅰ.The aims and requirements of the lesson in English Course Standard 
Since this unit is about Travel, the students should know something about the tools, the transport, the fare, etc. So,the teacher should give the students the chance to practice talking about travel in class so that they are more interested in the topic and are ready to join in the following activities in this Unit. At the same time, the teacher help them learn some new words and the grammar point used in this unit. The second requirement in this unit is to learn more about the trip along the Mekong River so that the students can have a better understanding in the following lessons of this unit. 
Ⅱ.Analysis of the teaching material 
This is the first part of Unit 3. It aims at stimulating the students’ interest in talking about travel. And then learn some more words and expressions as well as the related grammar points so that the students have the desire and the ability to learn the following text. 
Ⅲ.Backgrounds of the learners 
The learners have just finished their junior middle school studies and have only a basic command of English. However, most of the students are interested in learning more about English language and English culture. 
Ⅳ.The whole arrangement of this period 
This lesson is warming up and pre-reading, the first lesson in Unit 3. So in class the teacher designs many ask and answer activities to make the students think and talk about everything related to travel. During these activities, the students become excited about travelling and travelling along the rivers as well as learning some language points and skills. From the beginning, the teacher designs a listening activity to lead the students in this lesson. Then, the teacher shows the students the objectives of this lesson .After that, the teacher asks some questions about travelling and help the students try to draw their own travel route and make their own travel plan. At last, the teacher show some famous rivers in China and make the students talk about how to travel along one of the rivers. In the meanwhile, the teacher get the students learn more about the Mekong River and prepare for the next lesson. When finishing all this teaching task, the teacher summarize the lesson and then tell the students to make their own assessment so that they can evaluate what they have learned in this lesson.

By the end of the lesson the students will have been able to: 
1.Knowledge and ability: To make the students practice using The Present Continuous

6. Do pre-reading activities 
Finish all the activities: Activity 1: Tell the class how people use the Yellow River in your city in their daily life? Activity 2: Tell the class which other river you would like to choose to travel along besides the Yellow River? Activity 3: Listen to the teacher, read the map carefully and tell your class something about the Mekong River you know. Activity 1 
The teacher shows several pictures of the famous rivers in the world and gets the students guess where they are and then asks them to think about how people make use of the rivers in their daily lives.  
Activity 2 The teacher asks the students the questions, “Have you travelled down the Yellow River?” “How did you travel?” “What other river in the world do you want to travel along?” to help the students think about the journey down the rivers. Activity 3 The teacher tells the students that there are 
two students named Wang Kun and Wang Wei and they two will take a bike tip along the Mekong River. After that, the teacher shows a map of the Mekong and get the students know something about the river. 
To get the students know more about Charlie Chaplin and improve their reading skills. 
7. Summary and self-assessment 
Summarize what they have learnt in the passage and finish the self-assessment. Help the students 
summarize the passage and assess themselves. 
To make the students know more clearly about what they have learned and check if the students have finish the learning aims. . 
8. Homework 
Find more information about the Mekong River after class and preview the reading passage JOURENY DOWN THE  MEKONG 
Assign the homework.
