8.1Teaching Procedures
8.1.1Step One:Warming Up
(1)Greeting.
Say hello to students.
(2)Warming-up.
T: I say , you do 1. read a book 2. take a photo in pairs
Ss: follow the saying and do the two activities
8.1.2Step Two:Lead-in
The teacher shows one book on the screen . Chinese name: 要么读书,要么旅行,身体和灵魂总有一个在路上. And ask students to guess its English name You can either (或者)read or travel ,but either your body or soul(灵魂) must be on the way(在路上). The teacher and students read the English name together.
T: Do you like traveling? Do you like reading? Yes or no . So why do you like traveling ?
S1: It makes me happy.
S2: It is interesting.
S3: We can see different things. ……
The teacher shows his/her own photos taken in holidays. And then talk about Sanya which he/she didn’t go to ever before with the help of a map of China. Ask students who went to Sanya before and let them introduce Sanya in their eyes.
The teacher shows students a short video of Sanya , ask them whether it is beautiful and whether they want to go there.
Set a situation : suppose the teacher wants to go to Sanya in 2016, and the whole class is a travel agency. Ask all the students to make a best schedule with the following questions in groups.
Q1: When can I go? Sanya
Q2: How can I go there? __________
Q3: What can I do there? _________
Invite some students to write their answers on the blackboard
8.1.3Step There: Presentation
(1) Let’s try listening part /check the answers
(2) Let’s talk
The teacher gives Ss three questions before: 1. where did Amy go over the winter holiday? 2.How did she go there? 3.What did she do there? With the questions, students listen to the tape for the first time, and then answer the questions.
The teacher asks students to underline the key sentences and then propose some difficult points Ss don’t understand.
With the help of English explanation, the teacher highlights the difference of verbs in 2015 and 2016 on the blackboard. Here , special attention should be paid to the “Past Tense”. In order to let students master the past tense happily, the teacher uses the lottery turntable to make them get the change of each words. In the end, all the students summarize the verbs in past tense.
8.1.4Step Four: Practice
(1) Let students follow the tape and read the dialogue sentence by sentence.
(2)Role play: divide the class into three roles and then read the dialogue.
8.1.5Step five: Consolidation
(1)Make Ss’ own dialogue with the help of the model in groups.
A:Hello,Where did you go over ________?
B: I went to_______
A:How did you go there ?
B: I went there by _______
A:What did you do there?
B:I ______, ______and _____
A:Sounds great!
Word Bank:
time(时间):Labour Day holiday, Summer holiday, National Day holiday
Place(地点) :Shenzhen, Beijing, Shanghai, New York, London
Transportation(交通工具):by plane, by train, by bus, by ship
Activities(活动):rode a horse, went swimming, climbed the mountain, ate good food, bought gifts , took photos.
(2) show some Ss’ holiday pictures
1.The teacher firstly ask all the students who he /she is ,and then the teacher ask , the boy or girl ask in the form of the model.
2. The second picture: ask students to act it out in pairs.
3.The third picture: the student on the screen answer, and other students ask.
4.The forth picture: girls ask and boys answer.
(3) The teacher shows the answering sentence, and ask students to give the asking sentences in order to check the important sentences.
1.Where did you go over the winter holiday?
I went to Sanya.
2.How did you go there ?
I went there by plane
3.What did you do there?
I took lots of pictures and went swimming.
8.1.6Step Six : Conclusion
Show several beautiful pictures of different scenery. Ask students to appreciate the beauty of motherland. And then motivate them to enjoy holiday and enjoy life.
8.1.7Step Seven :Homework
1. Review and recite the dialogue.
2. Interview your friends or parents about their holiday and fill in the table.
