New Standard English Book 6 Module 10 Unit 1 I’m in New York now. Analysis of Teaching material:
The type of this lesson is reading and writing lesson. This lesson is from New Standard English Book 6, Module 10 Unit 2. Its function is to make students be able to use the Simple Past Tense to describe their trips. Students have learnt to talk about travel experience in Module 6 and talk about things in the past in Module 9. The content is not difficult for the students to understand. Analysis of the students:
Our students are in Grade 5. They have learnt English for three years. They have learnt the Simple Past Tense. They are able to read some simple new words and simple sentences. But some of them couldn’t use the Simple Past Tense to write a passage correctly. They lack the skills of reading and writing. They like new things. To share their trips by QQ is a very interesting way to learn. Some students are shy to speak in English. So teachers should communicate with them patiently. Teaching aims: 1. Amis of knowledge:
(1) The students can master the words: pet, speak, building, American, find out, more. (2) Students will be able to use the Simple Past Tense to talk about their trips. 2. Aims of ability:
(1) Students’ reading and writing skills will be improved. (2) Know the help of thinking map in reading and writing. 3. Aims of emotion: Be active and cooperative in team work. 4. Aims of strategy:
(1) Students try to use some relevant reading skills to read. (2) Students try to read and write with the thinking map.
5. Aims of cultural awareness: Students will be able to notice the difference between Chinese and foreign culture.
Teaching main points:
