一、Teaching aims 1. Knowledge
Guide the Ss to learn some words and expressions related to the topic. Help the Ss have a better understanding of some European cities. 2. Skill
Train the Ss' pre-listening skills by reading the listening tasks,such as making predictions and listening for purpose.
Train the Ss to grasp detailed information about European cities by listening to key words and numbers.
Help the Ss tell apart people of the same gender in a conversation by voice.
Guide the Ss to learn how to describe a place by group discussion. 3. Emotion
Broaden the Ss' international horizons and prepare for the international stage in the future.
Build up the Ss' confidence and develop the Ss' sense of patriotism by presenting their hometown or school. 二、Teaching important points

Step 1 : Pre-listening Task 1: Lead-in
Q:Do you still remember what we learned in the Reading part?---European cities.
Show more pictures of European cities taken by T to introduce the UK.
设计意图:引导学生回顾主课文欧洲城市这一话题,通过展示个人欧洲游的照片,开展看图片、猜城市的游戏环节激发学生对欧洲城市的兴趣,自然导入英国。
Task 2: Watch a video clip and fill in the four parts of the UK on the map. Q: How many parts/countries is the UK divided into? Do you know the capital of each country?
设计意图:通过观看短视频引导学生填写英国地图,使学生深入了解英国“国中国”现象,为听力对话做好背景知识准备。 Step 2: While listening Listening 1
Q: What information should we focus on while listening? (before-listening)
设计意图:培养学生听前能力,即根据听力任务预设听力内容及明确听力重点的能力。
Task 1: Listen to the dialogue and match the speakers and their information

设计意图:通过信息匹配活动培养学生在听中初步抓取主要细节的能力。讲解部分通过剪截对话音频引导学生听高低音辨同性人,突破听力难点。
Task 2: Listen again and find mistakes (one mistake in each sentence). Edinburgh is the capital of England. There are so many capital cities in Italy. There is a small city in Spain called Valencia. It is on the west coast. It is about 300 kilometers south of Barcelona. The basketball team in Valencia is fantastic. All of them are living in London at the moment as teachers.
设计意图:引导学生重听材料开展改错活动,培养学生进一步抓取细节的精听能力。

Subtitles: The city of Valencia, located on the Mediterranean coast, is the capital of the province of Valencia. Its modernized international airport is just 8 kilometers from the city. Valencia is both one of the richest, monumental city centers of Spain. Its cultural heritage, art and architecture have made Valencia a prime tourist destination. The climate is Mediterranean with relatively wet and mild winters and dry summers. The annual average temperatures are clement. Its metropolitan area has approximately 1,500,000 inhabitants, making it the third city of Spain. So this must be added more than 5,000,000 tourists who visit Valencia each year.
设计意图:通过看视频补全字幕任务,培养学生视、听、写的
综合能力,既锻炼学生在听力中抓关键词和听数字的能力,又通过字幕(语篇)填词活动引导学生关注听力中的语法问题。
Task 5:Watch the video clip again and think of aspects, words and expressions when we describe a place.
设计意图:通过再次观看视频引导学生关注城市Valencia内容介绍的角度和词汇的选用,为讨论环节做好铺垫。 Step 3: Post-listening (Discussion &Presentation)
Task 1 (Online discussion): Scan the QR code, and answer the two questions.

Q2: What words and expressions do we use when we describe a place?
设计意图: 通过线上讨论活动,大屏幕展示讨论结果,更直观地深入地展开生生、师生互动,并为线下讨论活动做好内容和词汇准备。
Task 2 (Group discussion):
Suppose you are an exchange student in the UK, you are required to introduce your school/your hometown. Choose one, show your poster and describe it to your group members.
