How to tell a fact from an opinion? 2. Practice
Decide the following sentences: is it a fact or an opinion? ①China has the largest number of population in the world. ②Having a second child brings more good than trouble. ③China is the most beautiful country in the world.
④I think we should stop driving, because driving a car can cause damage to the environment.
Step III Problem solving 1. Reading
Read an old miner’s story, and find out what happened to the Amber Room in his story.
Find out the sentences that are facts and those that are opinions.
Ask students’ opinion about this story. 2. Listening
Listen to two stories, and find out what happened to the Amber Room.
Listen again, and fill in the blanks.
Discuss :which is a fact and which is an opinion. Think about whether their stories are reliable. 3. Reflection
Go back to the picture at the beginning of the class, and discuss what is the only fact. Step IV. Writing 1. Read an example.
