Part 1 - Teaching Goals

Guide students to understand the article context and to talk about their ideal homes.
Part 3 – Teaching Procedures
Step One: Warm-up
Show a photo of the teacher, describe it and learn the new word “ center , flower , house”.
T: Who’s the woman on the left… ? Ss: She’s …
T: The baby is not on the left, not on the right, where is he ? Ss: He’s ( in the center…). Step Two: Revision
Go over kinds of rooms and “there be” by talking about the teacher’s home .
1. Enjoy different kinds of rooms in a video ( bedroom, kitchen, washroom, study …)
2. Talk about the study freely as follows, There is a cat on the floor. Next to the cat, there is a desk. On the desk, there is / are … I think the study is …
Step Three: Read and understand ( Activity 1a on P31)
1. Appraise the picture on P31 and guess if the writer likes his home, then skim the passage and check.
2. Paragraph reading and tasks.
Task One: Read Para. 1 and answer the following questions. (1) Where is the garden?
(2) Are there any trees in the garden? (3) What’s in the garden?
Task Two : Read Para. 2 and fill in the blanks.
At the ______ of the yard, there is a nice house. In the house, there are ______ bedrooms and there is a ______ living room and a study, too. The writer loves playing on the computer in the ________. Near the house, there is (a)n _______ tree. Some birds are _________ in the tree.
Task Three : Read Para. 3 and try to answer first. (1) What’s on the left of the yard ?

Finish the mind –map to help students understand the article contest clearly, guide them to retell the passage, if time permits. Step Six : Group work
Work in groups of four and discuss their ideal homes in the picture, better use the following useful expressions. Get one or two students to show the fruit of their groups in front of the class This is my home.

Step Seven: Thanksgiving Time ( Summary)
Lead students to love our homes (families, schools, hometown , country) and our lives more . Get them to give warm hugs to the parents invited in the classroom. Step Eight: Writing Time ( Homework )
