本课新单词有born, as,became,herself, role model，词组是all over the world，主要句型是She couldn’t „. She could „.本课主要从学生兴趣出发，联系学生已有的对名人的了解，通过dialogues、readings、picture talking等多种活动，使学生学会运用could和couldn’t描述某人过去能做和不能做的事情。同时，通过学习美国著名盲人作家Helen Keller的故事，教育学生要坚强勇敢地向命运挑战。
教学目标 １、知识与技能目标
（1）四会新单词、新词组和2个新句型，做到发音准确、清晰； （2）熟练运用新句型与同桌进行相互问答；
（3）能够借助课文中的照片和图片，进行看图问答或综合说话； （4）能够根据多媒体课件自主读写英语短文材料。 ２、过程与方法目标
（1）通过师生问答、两两对话、角色扮演等多种言语交际活动，培养和提高口语交际能力和在日常生活中运用英语的能力；
（2）能够仔细倾听老师和同学的发言，有语言表达和同学交流的愿望。 3、情感态度与价值观
（1）激发和保持学生英语学习的动机。
（2）通过学习美国著名盲人作家Helen Keller的故事，教育学生要坚强勇敢地向命运挑战。 教学重难点

教学过程 1. Warmer 1) Greetings. 2) Free talk:

此环节让学生带着问题学习课文，为学习新的阅读材料理清思路，也有利于学生自主学习。
3) Answer the questions, and lead out new words. (born, herself, all over the world, model)
通过回答问题，进而引出新词、词组，以强化知识目标的达成。
4) Listen and repeat again, and underline the sentences with “could” and “couldn’t”. (Emphasize “could/can, couldn’t/can’t)
此环节的读、划Key words，有利于对重、难点知识的敲打。
5) Read two sentences “She couldn’t see and she couldn't hear. She could also write.” 4．Practice 1）Game: Encourage the students to say something about the topic. “As a small child, what could/couldn’t you do?”
教师通过PPT出示自己儿时的照片，用本课学习的新句型介绍自己小时候能做的事和不能做的事，进而鼓励学生谈论自己的情况，既起到的示范作用，又拉近了师生间的距离。
