一.Analysis of the teaching material
The selected teaching material is an article taken from Module 1, Unit1. The first part is a letter from a student who has trouble in making friends, and the main part is a writing part leading students to write a letter to help this student.
二.Teaching Objectives:
1. Students will be able to write a letter of advice in a limited time with the guardian of the teacher.
2. Students will be able to give suggestions and help others to solve problems on making friends. 三.Teaching Procedures: Step1:Lead-in(5mins)
The teacher takes out an envelope and let students guess what is in it. Then the teacher and students share a letter from Xiaodong together. They read the letter and find out Xiao Dong’s problem.
(Answer: He is not good at communicating with people and finds it hard to make friends with his classmates.) Step2:Brainstorming(10mins)
Students discuss the ways to change the situation in groups of six and make a list of their ideas and give reasons. Then the teacher will ask each group to show their ideas and reasons and sum up these ideas.

Step3:Making an outline(5mins)
Students will be asked to make their outlines after reading the sample. The teacher will give them some guides on how to write a letter of advice,

Step4:Writing(15mins) Students will be asked to finish their letter in fifteen minutes by themselves. The teacher will ask a student to write it on the blackboard. Step5: editing the letter and sum up(5mins)
The teacher will edit the composition on the blackboard, then analyze its strengths and weaknesses. At last, the teacher will encourage students to have confidence in building up friendships with others by showing them some beautiful pictures. 四.Homework:
1. Students will be asked to swap their letter with their group members and check for mistakes.
2.Finalize the writing draft and be ready to hand it in.
