1. Knowledge aim: To help the students review the relative pronouns ,including which, who ,that, whom, where, when, why and have a clear idea of the concept of the grammar item. 2. Ability aim: To help the students practice the skills at describing the people and further develop the ability in communication especially when the Attributive Clause is used.
3. Moral aim: To help the students form the habit of independent learning and become willing to cooperate with the members in the group activity. Ⅱ. Teaching Key and difficult Points
1. Distinguish the relative pronouns and relative adverbs who, whom, that, which, whose, when, where.

V. Teaching Procedures Step 1. Lead-in
(1)By showing students a song “The rose” including attributive clauses, the teacher presents the topic ---the Attributive Clause, and lets students point out the antecedents and Attributive Clauses. (2)Present two pictures that are about the most popular TV series to lead the relative pronouns and adverbs by showing the following sentences. (1) This is the TV series which I have seen recently. (2) This is a picture that is taken from the TV series. (3) This is the TV series whose name is Sanshengsanshi.
(4)The man and the woman whom you see in the picture are Ye hua and Bai Qian.
(5) Bai Qian and Ye Hua are the heroine and the hero who loved each other very much in the film . (6)This is the place where the TV series was shot(拍摄).
(7)The TV series was shot in the season when the weather is warm.
(8)The reason why the TV series is so popular is that the scenery is very beautiful.

Relative pronouns: who , whom, that, which, whose Relative adverbs: when, where, why
After reviewing the relative words , ask students to join the sentences using attributive clauses and choose the proper relative words on the screen. Step 2Thinking
Give students several minutes to read the following key and difficult points of the Attributive Clause and then finish the exercises by themselves. In the meanwhile, ask several students to do the exercises on the blackboard.
1. The differences between that and which. 下列几种情况只用that:
(1)被修饰的先行词为不定代词或被不定代词修饰,如all,something,everything, anything, nothing, none, the one等。
(2)先行词是最高级/序数词或被最高级/序数词修饰时。 (3)先行词中既有人又有物时。
(4)先行词被the only, any, few, little, the very等词修饰时。 (5)主句中已经有了which/who时。 下列几种情况只用which: (1)在非限制性定语从句中。
(2)在定语从句中做介词的宾语时,且介词位于关系代词前。
(3)如果有两个定语从句,其中前一个的关系代词用that的话,后一个宜用which。 2. as的用法
as引导限制性定语从句先行词前常被such, the same, so, as 修饰,即构成such…as , the same …as, so…as 结构。as在定语从句中应充当成分如:主语、宾语或表语。
as 与which引导非限制性定语从句都能指代整句内容,但定语从句位于句首时,只能用 as, 意为“正如、恰如”。

(1)“介词+关系代词”引导定语从句时,关系代词常用which(指物)或whom(指人),即介词+which/which。

依据定语从句中动词所需的某种习惯搭配来确定。
I bought a great many books, on which I spent all my money that I saved. 依据先行词的某种习惯搭配来确定。
I will never forget the time during which I spent my childhood in the country. 根据所表达的意思来确定。
The colorless gas without which we can’t live is called oxygen. 4. way后面的定语从句
如果先行词way后面的定语从句中缺少主语或宾语,则用that或which。如果定语从句中缺少方式状语,则用in which ,that或省略。
The way that / which / 不填he explained to us was quite simple.
The way that / in which /不填 he explained the sentence to us was not difficult to understand. 5. 定语从句中的主谓一致
当引导定语从句中的关系代词在从句中作主语时,那么定语从句中的谓语动词在人称、数的方面,应该与先行词保持一致。

若先行词在定语从句中作主语、宾语用which、that;若是作状语,才用when、where、why。 对比:Nobody believed the reason which /that he put forward in the meeting. The reason why / for which he didn't want to attend the meeting is still unknown. 7. 定语从句与其他从句的区别 (1)定语从句与强调句的判断
It was in the small house which / that was built with stones by his father that he spent his child. 突破指南:在定语从句与强调句的结合中,“先行词+定语从句”多为强调句中的被强调部分.第一空的设置多是对定语从句的考查,第二空多为强调句型。 (2)定语从句与并列句的混淆 (标点符号和连词是关键) Mr White has three sons, all of whom are brave.(定语从句) Mr White has three sons, and all of them are brave.(并列句) Mr White has three sons; all of them are brave.(并列句) Mr White has three sons, all of them brave.(独立主格结构) (3)定语从句与同位语从句的混淆
I made a promise that if anyone set me free I would make him very rich.(同位语从句) The mother made a promise which / that pleased all her children .(定语从句) (4)介词+which引导的定语从句和介词后的宾语从句的混淆。 I lived in what you call “Ancient Greece”.(B2U2宾语从句) The school in which he once studied is famous.(定语从句) (5) where 引导的定语从句和地点状语从句的混淆
