Knowledge aims:
1. Ss are able to read and use these words:
  throw away, put sth. to good use, pull … down, upside down, gate, bottle, president, inspiration, iron, metal, bring back, creativity
2. Ss are able to use these sentences:
(1)  Do you often throw away things you don’t need anymore?
(2)  Have you ever thought about how things can actually be put to good use?
(3)  She built herself out of rubbish.
(4)  The top of the house is an old boat turned upside down.
(5)  Amy is an inspiration to us all.
(6)  He is known for using iron and other materials from old cars to make beautiful art pieces.
(7)  Wang Tao hopes to set up a “metal art” theme park to show people the importance of environmental protection.
(8)  Not only can the art bring happiness to others, but it also shows that even cold, hard iron can be brought back to life with a little creativity.
Ability aims
1. Ss can recognize how prefixes and suffixes may change the meanings of words and how they are used.
2. Ss can practice reading and improve their reading abilities in class.

1. Show the model bike to the students
2. Present the procedure of reusing the empty bottles: how to be a vase, how to be a stand, how to be a funnel, how to be a pot.
活动2【讲授】Reading
Step II Before reading
Look at the title and the pictures: Can you guess what these things are in the pictures?
Step III While reading
1. Read fast and fill in the blanks to understand the main ideas of each paragraph.
2. Read again and fill in the chart.
Step IV Consolidation
1. Read carefully and find out the sentences that have the six expressions in activity 2c.
2. Learn these six sentences.
3. Finish activity 2c
4. Work on 2. Write down the words and tell the differences between prefixes and suffixes.

Step V Discussion 
1. Discuss in groups: can you think up some useful things that are made from waste?
2. Show the report as a conversation in class.

1. Finish the chart without looking at the passage.
