Teaching Aims:
  At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:
Understand the text and master some important words: wood、 light、 flashlight、match、 apart、die down  
Be familiar with three reading strategies: prediction、skimming and scanning.
Understand the importance of help.
Teaching procedure
Step 1: Lead-in
Let Ss watch a video.          
2. Let Ss guess the topic.
Step 2: Pre-reading
Lead in new words and expressions by pictures.   And Finish self-checklist. 
Step3 While-reading:
1.    Let Ss predict the text from the title and picture.
2.    Summarize how to predict.
3.  Let Ss look through the first and the second paragraph to get the main idea.
4.  Summarize how to skim.
5.  Let Ss skim the rest of paragraphs and match the main idea.
6.  Introduce the time clue: before the storm, during the storm and after the storm.
7.  Let Ss read the first and the second paragraph to finish ‘how’ ‘who’ questions with the help of time clue.
8.  Summarize how to scan.
9.  Let Ss scan the rest of paragraphs to finish ‘how’ ‘who’ ‘where’ ‘what’ ‘when’ questions.
Step 4. Post-reading     
Let Ss retell the story with a mind-map.
Let Ss enjoy a video about help.
Step 5  Assignment     
Please learn the passage “Do you Remember What You Were Doing” on page 38 with three reading skills you have learned in this class.
