The topic of this unit is what a brave person. The reading material is an article about a subway hero named Earl Brown. By introducing the event of the subway hero, students can explore the usages of first conditional sentences through the whole lesson. Ⅱ.Teaching Objectives
By the end of the lesson, students are expected to: 1. Master the usages of first conditional sentences 2. Write a short poem by using first conditional
3. Realize the importance of being brave and try to face everything in life bravely
Ⅲ.Anticipated difficulties:
1.Students may find it hard to master the first conditional
2.Students may find it hard to make up the story by using first conditional Ⅳ.Teaching Procedures Step One Lead-in
Let the students enjoy an English song named If You Are Happy,students can sing and do the actions with the music together
(The purpose is to arouse the students’ interest and activate their attention
of first conditional sentences) Step Two Pre-learning
Ask students something relates to the song. Eg. What will you do if you are happy? What will you do if you are angry? What will you do if you are a millionaire? What will you do if you see a person in danger? Step Three While-learning
1.Introduce the background and let the students listen to the whole story.
2.Encourage the students to tell the whole story by filling the blanks 3.Let the students pick up the first conditional sentences from the article and observe them
4.Encourage the students to find the rules of first conditional. Eg. When do we use the first conditional ?
What tense should we use in the if clause and main clause? What’s the difference between if sentence and when sentence? ...
5. A Game: Spinning Wheel
(Let the students make some sentences by using first conditional) 6. Find more rules of first conditional sentences
7. Choose a topic to make up the story by using first conditional
