1教学目标
At the end of the class, the students are able to
1. Recall the words of appearance and personality before.
2. Use the sentence pattern—”used to do”: declarative sentence, and negative sentence .
3. Think about the changes and treat them rightly.
2学情分析
The students are in Junior 9, so they can talk freely in class to some extent. But it is still a challenge for students to talk fluently. Students have known how to talk about a person at present and can use the simple past from to talk about the past. But they can't use them correctly as well as quickly. So in this lesson, students will have lots of chances to talk. 
3重点难点
Use the sentence pattern—”used to do”: declarative sentence, and negative sentence.  Be brave to speak in the class. 
4教学过程
4.1第一学时
4.1.1教学活动
活动1【导入】Lead-in
Talk about the teacher’s appearance and personality to recall the words.
活动2【活动】Words review
Review the words of appearance and personality.
      Check answers in groups and two students write the answer on the  blackboard.
活动3【活动】Group work—use these words
Look at the photos of Fu Yuanhui and use as many words as possible to describe her in appearance and personality. Two groups show their answer.
活动4【活动】 Review the new words. 
Check previewing homework together.
  Choose the right pictures for the new words.
活动5【活动】Introduce the sentence pattern—”used to do” 
Play guessing game.
  Look at the photos of people, describe them(What was he/she like?), and then introduce the sentence pattern—”used to do” (declarative sentences). 
活动6【活动】Practice
Time machine. Go back to the childhood.
  1Look at students’ photos in their childhood and describe them by  using “used to do”.
  2 Group work—Look at Ke Nan’s photos of childhood and adult and use as many sentences with “used to do” as possible. 
活动7【活动】Introduce “didn’t use to do”
1Look at photos and talk about them by using “didn’t use to do”.
 2 Group work—Look at Doctor Li’s photos in the past and now , and
  use as many sentences with “didn’t use to do” as possible. 
活动8【活动】 Listen 
 Listen and match the photos with the person.
活动9【活动】Listen
Listen and finish 1b. 
1.Mario used to be _____. He used to wear______.
 2. Amy used to be ____. She used to have __________.
3. Tina used to have ____ and ______ hair.
 
活动10【活动】Feedback
 Fill in the blanks.

  1. I was shy before, but now I am outgoing. (同义句)
  I ____ _____ _____ shy.
  2. He used to wear old jeans. (改为否定句)

活动11【作业】Homework
 Write a passage about yourself in the past and now vy using "used to do" and "didn't use to do"
