Analysis of teaching material
The title of this module is Animal in danger. and it mainly talks about the situation of different wild animals and the protection of them. Students are familiar to this topic. The reading and vocabulary part is Saving the Antelopes.
There are 5 paragraphs and the passage can be divided into three parts.The structure is very easy and clear. Paragraph 1 mainly tells the story of Jiesang suonandajie, who gave his life to protecting the antelopes. Part 2 (Para.2&3) talks about the reason why the antelope are killed. And Part 3 (Para.4&5) is about the measures of protecting the antelopes and the results.
Analysis of students
My students are senior two from Dachuan No. 2 Middle School. They have been learning English for more than 5 years, so their comprehensive skills are not bad, especially when the passage is about animals’ protection. So it’s not too difficult for them to get the main ideas and key information..
Objectives
1. Instructional objectives
1) Students should be able to read correctly and know the meaning of new words with the help of teacher (antelope, shawl, habitat, extinct, confiscate ,..)
2) Students are able to understand some difficult sentences or structures according to lead-in and contextual information.
3) Students are able to get the brief and detailed information of each paragraph.
4) Students are able to make a brief summary of this passage.
