1. Students have learnt adberbial clause of condition in this unit. So it is easier for them to talk about their problems and the solutions by using the structure: If..., I will...
2. Teenagers of this age may have lots of problems about their study and life, so they may be interested in talking about their problems and helping classmates to solve the problems.

1. Students improve their reading skills by using some reading strategies.
2. Students is willing to share their problems and help others to solve problems.

活动1【导入】Warming up
1. Listen to a song “If you are happy?” and greet the students.
Ask the students “Are you happy today?”
“If you are happy, will you stand up?”
“If you are happy, will you clap your hands?”
“If you are happy, will you say it out?”
活动2【导入】 Before you read
1. Talk about my problem.
Tell the students that I am not happy, and tell them my problem-- I lost my bag.
Introduce the things in the bag to learn a new word “wallet”.
Ask the students to give me some advice and thank them.
2. Talk about the students’ problems.
Tell the students they have helped me and I’m also glad to help them. “Why not share your problems with me? Maybe I can help you.”
Ask the students to list some normal problems they are facing. And show them in the screen. Tell them the problems make us feel annoyed.
3. Discuss the ways to solve the problems.
Have the students to think out some ways and then list three in the screen:
a. If people have problems, they should get advice from an expert.
b. If people have problems, they should talk to other people.
c. If people have problems, they should keep them to themselves.
Ask them to choose the best way of the three. Tell them they can discuss.
活动3【讲授】While you read
1. Tell the students the passage in our book may give us the best answer. And ask them to read it quickly and choose the statement that expresses the main idea of the passage.
2. Listen to the first paragraph and answer the following questions:
(1) Do students these days have worries? If so, what are the problems?
(2) What’s the worst thing if you have a problem?
(3) What does Laura think we can do?

3. Read the second paragraph and finish Laura’s story.

活动4【活动】 After you read
1. Share problems
Let the students read the last sentence of the passage: Sharing a problem is like cutting it in half. So you're halfway to solving a problem just by talking to someone about it. And tell them the importance of sharing. Then ask them to write a problem on a piece of paper, and collect the problems. Then choose any one of the pieces and read the problem to the class. Everyone joins to help solve the problem.
2. Discussion
What will happen if your mother has a second child?
Ask the students to discuss the problem in groups of four and write the ideas on the paper.
