Teaching Procedures Step 1. Greeting as usual Step 2. Warming-up
1. Brainstorm--- What kind of music do you know? 2. Enjoy a song
3. Free talk---- Do you have a favorite singer or band?
Do you have a favorite song?
What fact do you know about your favorite singer, band or
song?(where from/How many CDs/popular song etc. )
Step 3. Fast reading
1. Ask Ss to read the title and ask them some questions. Ss answer these question according to the title. Questions: ① what kinds of music is it?
② Is country music very important to Sarah? How do you know it? 2. Show reading skill--tip1 to Ss.
3. Ask Ss to read the passage by themselves and find out the main ideas of each paragraph, besides, Ss should finish 2b on their books. 4. Check the answers.
5. Show reading skill—tip2 to Ss. Step 4. Careful reading
1. Ask the whole class to read para.1 and answer the questions—who is Sarah? 2. Invite one Ss to share his/her answers and check the answers at the same time. 3. Ask the whole class to read para.2 and answer the questions --- What is country music?
---Comparing country music and songs these days 4. Show Ss a song about country music.
5. Ask Ss to read para.3 by themselves and answer the questions
What is Sarah’s dream? Who is Garth Brooks? Is Sarah Garth Brooks fan? How do you know?
6. Show a song sung by Garth Brooks to Ss. Step 5. After reading
1. Ask Ss to retell the story.
2. Invite some Ss to retell the story to other Ss. 3. Show reading skill—tip3 to Ss. Step 5. Emotional education. Step 6. Language points. Step 7. Homework.
