1.analysis of teaching
(1)analysis of students
Ss in level-B have known the key expressions and sentences about giving advice But they can’t fully master the expressions or sentences structures.They need to more activities to practice.
(2)analysis of teaching materials
This module is about how to learn English.It serves as the approaches and strategies to help Ss learn English well,which is beneficial for their study all the time.
2.teaching aims:
(1)Knowledge aims :Ss will be able to master the ways to give advice by doing different tasks;Ss will be able to master many good ways to learn English by doing various tasks. (2)Ability aims:Ss will be able to practise listening, speaking ,reading and writing skills by doing different tasks. (3)Affection aims: Ss will be able to know how to learn English well , how to give others advice appropriately and try their best to overcome difficulties when they learn English.
3.key points and difficult points:
(1)key points:some key expressions about giving advice
Why don’t you do.../Why not do ...? What about .../How about...? You should /You shouldn’t do... Can you ...? (We can ...) Let's try (not)to...
It’s a good idea to do… I suggest...
(2)Difficult points:
①Ss may have some difficulties in giving advice about learning English . ②Ss may have difficulties in finishing listening and writing down the correct answers in the tasks.
③Ss find it hard to form the thinking pattern of finding answers according to the problems.
4.Teaching strategies:
Individual learning method,cooperative learning and task-based language teaching.
5. Teaching aids:
Video clips,text book,exercise paper ,music and so on. 6.Teaching process: Step1.Lead in ---brainstorm
Ask and answer about the question:How do you usually learn English? Ss answer and the teacher takes notes on the blackboard like this:
Step2.Pre-task:revision
Review key words and expressions in unit1 and unit2 by watching the video clips and trying to give advice.
Step3. While-task:Try to solve Charlie,Jack and Helen’s problems by giving them proper advice. (1) Listening:
①Listen and check the expressions of advice you hear. ②Review all the expressions of advice that you know. (The teacher write them on the blackboard like this)
③Listen and choose the correct answers to find what advice Mary gives Charlie.
(2) Speaking:
①Look at the pictures and say Jack’s habits.
②Divide these habits into good habits and bad habits.
③Try to give Jack some advice according to his bad habits.
(3) Reading:
①Read individually:
Read the letters and review the expressions of advice by finishing
thinking map 1.(Skimming:finish main advice;Scanning:finish advice in details:)
②Read together:
Read again and master the key phrases as well as key structures by finishing thinking map 2.
③Summary:problems---main advice---advice in details. (Finish the blackboard designs like this)
(4) Writing:
①Discuss and write down group members’ problems in the form.
②Write down their problems and give them advice in the composition. ③Share your compositions with us. Step4.Post-task:
(1) Share your compositions:
Share your compositions with others and try to learn more from others. (2)Affective teaching:
The teacher speaks highly of students’ hard work in everyday study and tries to encourage them to try their best to fight for their dreams.
Step5.Homework:
Share your compositions with more classmates and try to learn more from others.
