Warming up
Here I will play s song to the
students , and to lead them to figure out the name of this song: Hotel of California.
The students can enjoy the song and try to give out the name of this song.

designed to get students ready to learning the multi-culture of California.

Combining with the song just heard, there is also a map on which
California is marked out by red color. Students can get the position of California on the map of America.
Look at the map shown on the PPT and try to point out which part the California is.

This part, the teacher will give the MP3 of paragraph 1 of this
passage and give 2 questions which can be answered after the tape listening.
Listen to the tape and have a fast reading to get the main idea of this passage according to paragraph 1 and the subtitles.

reading while listening to the tape can help students have a better control of time. Textbook and the tape
While-reading Give each student a piece of paper on which there are questions related to each paragraph. Play the video, and lead the students to find the answers quickly.

教学反思
我对新课改的核心解读是能够让学生踊跃动口、动手、动心,主动地参与课堂教学活动。基于此项,本课最大的特点是在post-reading的环节,通过小组讨论及合作用一幅图展现出本课的中心“History of California”,比较理想地培养学生自主学习及合作学习的同时,激发出了学生的灵感和创造力。
