学情分析 The topic of the module is about the Antarctica and what humans have done and are doing to explore the continent. Subjects need to be reviewed in this class. The students are from Senior Three, who have accumulated relevant vocabulary and developed reading skills to deal with long passages with guide, but sometimes they are not able to use the learning strategies and language skills to solve problems consciously. They are not as active as before, but they try their best to accomplish their tasks in and after class individually or in groups.
教学重点 1. To enable the students to understand and grasp the vocabulary;
2. To enable the students to grasp the strategies to solve the problems in reading; 3. To get the students to review and fully understand the use of subjects and verbs; 4. To stimulate the students to develop a learning and discovering attitude to the world and encourage them to think more and explore deeper.
教学难点 1. To get students to summarize the main idea of each paragraph and get the subtitles by using reading strategies;
2. To get students to solve problems related to subjects and verbs.
课时目标 1. To raise the students’ interest by getting them involved in class; 2. To get students to learn some new vocabulary;

教学步骤 Step 1. Presentation
Two students will make a presentation about the protection of the last continent—the Antarctica. They will call on the students to do something to protect the environment by

joining their club through scanning the QR code.
Step 2. Leading-in
With pictures of the creatures on the Antarctica, I will make a summary of their presentation and thus lead to the topic to be discussed in class by talking about “the big feet”—the lovely penguins unique to the Antarctica.
Step 3. Pre-reading
Review some words in reading part and ask the students to finish the exercise by choosing the right meanings.

Step 5. Scanning

Step 9. Post-reading
I will show a piece of news about “the big feet” which are endangered and ask the students to make posters in groups to help protect the cute birds, which is also a response to the presentation in the beginning of this class. I will also show an e-poster by myself to give them some ideas. Color pens and paper with a picture printed on it will be handed out to groups.
Posters will be shown by using the projector.
