Before we learn this part, now look at a picture and then think the following questions.
Q1: why is the lady weeping on the shore? Q2: would you want to know the reasons?
Open your books on page66 Ex1 and ask students to talk about them with your partners.
Step ⅡExplanation writing skills 1. Sort out the plot
Look through your texts quickly find out how many characters in this story?
Sedna, her father, a bird man

Read paragraph1 by yourself and answer the following questions. Q1: why did Sedna need to have someone to look after her? Q2:what did her father wish Sedna to do? Q3: After Sedna refused, what happened?
Read paragraph2 by yourself and answer the following questions. Q1:what did her father do? Q2:Did her daughter agree?
Read paragraph3-4 in a group and answer the following questions. Q1:what happened after Sedna married the hunter? Q2:what about her father’s feeling? Q3: what did her father do? What would the story happen next?
Later that day the bird man returned from fishing and found his wife was no longer there.___________________________

3.polish the sentence
(ask students to polish the following sentences according the different conditions in a group work ) before the fight:
He felt so angry that he went to Sedna’s home immediately. ---Turning pale/ Burning with anger, he dashed to her home immediately.
---Being mad at his wife for her leaving, he rushed to her house to look for his wife. ---Rage of fire was burning in his heart. Killing her father and bringing her back was the only thing that he wanted to do then. during the fight:
The father tried to protect his daughter.
---Holding Sedna in his arms, the father tried his best to protect her against the bird man.
---Exhausted and anxious, the father seized Sedna by the hand, trying to protect her against the bird man.
---Worn out as he was, the father seized Sedna by the hand firmly, trying to protect her against the bird man.

Climax:
A young hunter turned up.
---As soon as a young hunter heard her cries for help, he ran to save them. ---The moment a young hunter heard her cries for help, he came to their rescue. ---Hearing her cries for help, a young hunter rushed to give them timely help.
Step Ⅲ Practice
Get the students to continue to write the story quickly and accurately, meanwhile help the students to form a good habit of writing. samples: a happy ending
In such a condition, Sedna cried. Hearing Sedna’s cries, a hunter passing by hurried to reach there. He was skilful in shooting .Eventually the bird man was shot to death. Sedna and her father came out and thanked him for his help. Both of the two young people fell in love with each other. This time Sedna is satisfied with her marriage. a sad ending
In such a condition, Sedna cried. She could not bear the bird man any more, she could bear him killing her father. So she rushed out of the house and cried,” Dad,I will go with you!”On the way to the shore, she jumped into the water and disappeared soon. The bird man was shocked. When he found her body , it was frozen. Sedna died. Step Ⅳ Post-writing
