Unit 1 Where did you go on vacation?
Ⅰ.Analysis of learning materials:
This unit is around "Holidays and vacation” to carry out teaching activities.Students should learn to use past tense to talk about holiday activities. The content is close to students’ lives,it’s also a topic that students are willing to discuss and share with others .So in teaching process ,we can consolidate the key sentences “Where did you go on vacation? Did you …How …”through different methods such as pair work ,acting , reporting and interviews. Students can consolidate and study further about the past tense on the basis of original.Students can also use the past tense to write a diary about their vacations. Ⅱ.Learning Aims:
1.Knowledge aims:
①Ss talk about travel activities correctly using “where” and “how”. ②Ss master questions with auxiliary “did”and the answers to the questions. ③Ss learn to express their feelings correctly. 2.Ability aims::
①Ss can ask and answer questions about the things in the past using the past tense. ②Ss can use description words to express their feelings.
③Ss can record a vacation in a form of a diary and express their feelings about the vacations. 3Emotional aims:
Ss get to know more about each other through the exchange of what they have seen, heard and felt.

Say :Do you like traveling?Where did you go for vacation ?Would you like to know something about my vacation?You can ask me any question that you think of, but everyone can only ask one question.
Ss ask something about the teacher’s vacation according to “ where, what,how long and how.”
Say: Who can share your vacation with us ?OK ,Zhang Yuan please .Do you know where Zhang Yuan went for vacation ?You can ask him questions you want .
Ask :What do people usually do if they go for vacation ?
Among these activities ,what activities do you find enjoyable?
Ss learn something about different places.
Ss look at the pictures . Ss ask and answer the questions and learn new phrases like: feel like ,go surfing / boating / fishing. walk up to the top of the mountain,ride bicycles on the beach, see old buildings along the street.
Ss discuss: What activities do they find enjoyable? Ss answer :where, what and how

Step 2. Talk in groups

Step 3. Reading
Say: We find we do different activities in different places and feel differently.Next let’s read a passage about traveling .Read the diary quickly and fill in blanks .
Ss read the diary quickly and fill in the blank according to the information in the passage. Ss read the diary entry in detail.And while they’re reading, they should find out what other things the writer told us in the passage. Then finish the last three blanks.

Step 4. Writing
Say:So if I want to write a diary entry about my vacation.What should I write in it?
Say:This is one of my diaries.Let’s read in detail .You can know more . Read the sec diary quickly and fill in the blanks in two minutes.
Then I’d like you to write a travel diary by yourselves.Can you write a diary like this? Let’s try it .
Read the teacher’s diary and fill in the blanks in class.Read the diary again and find out the structure: How — where — what Ss write a travel diary like the model using the structure . Ss share some of the diaries.
Read their own travel diaries again and find out mistakes.
