一、 指导思想与理论依据
本章节，旨在英语阅读课型承载下，注重对学生核心价值素养四个维度的培养。并在
cooking的主题活动下，将本节课作为单元整体教学的一部分，起到承上启下的作用。既紧扣cooking (describe a process)， 还要为后面Section B的写作打下扎实的语言基础和积累写作素材。
二、 教学背景分析
一. 教学内容分析：
Ⅰ学生已经在本单元前面课学习了如何描述做一种食物的步骤（First, Next, Then, Finally.） Ⅱ学生已经在前面学习了多种食物的英语名称（milk shake, blender, spoon, oven, plate, salt, sugar…）对本单元的重点词汇有一定的掌握，并且掌握了一些相关做食物动作的词汇（put, peel, pour, turn on…）。
综上所述，学生在前面的教学中对本单元的基本句型和重点语法有了一定了解和基础，在本节课将注重学生跨文化意识的培养，通过中国传统节日和传统食物引出Thanksgiving in the United States 阅读文本对西方国家的感恩节有很好的了解，并清楚如何制作感恩节主食turkey。 三．学生情况
学生对西方文化了解比较欠缺，感恩节对很多学生来说比较陌生。因此在阅读教学过程中通过有趣的图片，音频和视频来激发学生的兴趣，调动学生积极参与到课堂中。
三、教学目标
一 教学目标：
本单元的话题是cooking, 功能是describe a process and follow instructions。作为阅读课部分，在整体单元教学任务中，本着系统化原则，渐进性原则，连贯性原则和有效性原则，阅读教学的主要目的时教给学生正确的阅读方法，阅读技巧，培养学生的阅读能力。为继续学习英语和运用英语切实打好基础。也为后面的写作积累素材打下良好的语言基础。
下面从初中英语核心素养的四个方面逐一分析教材内容
语言能力：1.根据所提供的图片能快速联想到对应的核心词汇（Turkey， dumplings, moon cakes, oven…. 2. 在听力训练前，能够根据图片进行预测。并能较好地完成听力训练。 3.通过对making a turkey dinner 部分进行听力处理后，能够跟老师一起完成英语

趣配音的活动复述做火鸡的步骤 （English Dubbing）4. 模仿老师提供的范本，写下学生想要感谢谁，想对他说什么，能为他做什么。
学习能力：1.运用一定的阅读技巧完成老师给定的阅读任务。 2. 能够根据阅读文本中对火鸡做法的描述仿写做另外一种中国传统食物的步骤。 3.在老师的带动下，能够用英文大胆的说出对父母，家人，朋友，老师的感谢。
文化意识：1. 对中国传统节日（Spring Festival, Mid-Autumn Day）及节日主食有所了解。 2. 对美国感恩节有很好的了解（时间，原因，由来，如何庆祝。。。），并由此结合自己的情况深思自己想要感谢的人，想要对他说的话，想为他做的事情。培养学生学会感恩。
思维品质：1.通过讨论中国人是否应该庆祝感恩节，让学生学会批判性地思考问题。 2. 通过mind map 有逻辑性地口述thanksgiving day.
二 教学重点：
Ⅰ重点词汇：Thanksgiving, traditional, traveler , celebrate, fill, cover, mix…. Ⅱ重点语法：mix together, fill with, put in, place on, cover with, cut into pieces. Ⅲ重点句型：First, mix together some bread pieces, onions, salt and pepper. Next, fill the turkey with this bread mix.
Then, put the turkey in a hot oven and cook it for a few hours.
When it is ready, place the turkey on a large plate and cover it with gravy.
Finally, cut the turkey into thin pieces and eat meat with vegetables like carrots and
potatoes.
三 教学难点：
1. 运用阅读技巧scanning找到相关信息。 2. 根据mind map 口述感恩节的相关重要信息。

Show 2 pictures of two Chinese traditional days and their special food. Present a picture of turkey and ask students if Thanksgiving Day a Chinese special day.

Pre-reading 读前
Show a video about Thanksgiving Day and ask students if Thanksgiving Day is a Chinese special day.
Tell the teacher if Thanksgiving Day a Chinese day by watching the short video about
Thanksgiving Day.
引出本节课topic：Thanksgiving Day, 并让学生产生information gap，对接下来的学习产生浓厚的兴趣和调动学生的主动学习性。
While-reading 读中 (Para 1.)
Give students five questions about Thanksgiving Day and ask them to scan paragraph one and find the answers.
Read paragraph one to find out when, where, how, why, what questions. Show their answers to the class.
让学生练习并较好地运用scanning快速找出5个问题的答案并大胆自信地给全班分享自己的答案。
Show a video about the history of Thanksgiving Day.
Let the students read the sentences telling about the history of Thanksgiving Day and fill in the blanks by using the words in paragraph one.
Watch and listen carefully to get a good understanding of the story of Thanksgiving Day.
Fill in the blanks after reading those sentences about the history of Thanksgiving Day.
通过视频和图片让学生更好的了解感恩节的由来。并检测学生观赏视频和读完故事后的掌握情况。同时加深学生的印象。

Ask students to predict according to the five pictures and play the audio material and ask
them to order the five pictures. Think of some key words by seeing the pictures to get ready for the following listening task. And number the pictures 1 to 5.
1. 通过听力的形式处理火鸡的制作方法及过程，让学生在阅读课中听力也得到很好的训练。
2. 让学生学会通过看图片来做预判。 Play the listening material again and ask the students to fill in the blanks.

Invite the students whose birthdays are in this month, November and give them a big surprise.
Sing Happy Birthday to You for their classmates to celebrate their birthdays.
Conclusion
Summarize what we learned in this class. Ask them if they know their parents’ birthdays.
Repeat the important grammars with teacher. And think about when their parents’ birthdays are.
1. 让学生回顾本堂课所学重点知识，并自我检测学习情况。 2. 通过询问学生家长及兄弟姐妹的生日为下一个环节做铺垫。
Homework
Assign homework.
Interview their parents’ birthdays. If they have brothers or sisters, interview their birthdays too. Record the information on a card in English.
引起学生情感升华，让学生意识到自己的父母对他们的关爱和密切的关注。通过学生不记得父母生日的现象，引发学生反思自己做得不好的地方。让学生懂得感恩父母从记住父母生日，并在父母生日时为他们做点特别的事情。
