Teaching Content: Project English, Unit 7 Food Festival Topic 3 I cooked the most successfully. Section D (Grammar and Functions, 1a, 1b, Project) Teaching time: 40 minutes Teaching aims:
1. Review the comparative and superlative degrees of adverbs. 2. Review some important sentences of Section A, B, C. 3. Develop students’ reading ability.
4. Make students’ know more about the importance of eating habits. Teaching focus:
1. Develop students’ reading ability.
2. Master some phrases and sentence patterns. Difficult points in teaching:
1. Phrase: not only … but (also) … 2. Sentence patterns: It’s said that … Teaching methods:
1. Fast reading to find out the general information about the passage.
2. Question-and-answer activities to help students go through the whole passage. 3. Individual and group work to make every students work and learn teamwork in class.

Step 1 Greeting and introduce class rules
The teacher: Good afternoon, boys and girls. In this class, I’ll divide you into two groups: boys and girls. Every time you give me a right answer, you can get one point. At the end of the class, we’ll see which group will be the winner. So try your best to win, OK?
The teacher: What’s your favorite western food?
My favorite western food is pizza. Do you like it? Step 2 Revision
Make sentences and practice according to the pictures and the chart
Fill in the blanks of the Grammar and Functions, then ask students to give the answers.
Step 3 Pre-reading
Show a picture of a fat boy and ask them some questions: 1) Is the boy healthy? 2) Do you know why?
3) Do you want to know about my eating habits? Then tell them something about my eating habits.
Tick their eating habits and check how many students have healthy eating habits. Tell them it’s important to have healthy eating habits. Step 4 While-reading
Finish the first 3 tasks in 1b by skimming the passage. Answer the two questions by scanning the passage.
1) What kinds of food should we eat to keep healthy? Why? 2) How should we eat to be healthy? Give them some tips:
1) The title of a passage should be short and clear.
2) The topic sentence of a paragraph is usually the first sentence, and sometimes
the last sentence.
Then read again and find out 3 important sentences according to the Chinese meaning. 1) It’s said that half of the students don’t have breakfast regularly.
2) In short, we should not only eat enough good, healthy food but also eat regularly.
3) We should cook it in a right way. Step 5 Post-reading
Explain some key points in the passage and write them down on the blackboard. New phrases and sentence patterns: It’s said that …, in short, not only … but also … Give them some examples and make them understand how to use them. Step 6 Project
The teacher: From the passage, we know that healthy eating habits are so important for us. We should choose our food carefully. Now it’s your turn to choose your own food.
Work in groups. Choose some healthy food and make a menu. Then report to the class in the front of the classroom. Step 7 Exercise
Ask students to speak out the answer one by one. Step 8 Summary
Read the new words, phrases and sentence patterns after the teacher. Read the important sentences together. Step 9 Homework
Write a passage about ways to keep healthy. Step 10 Evaluation
