Period 1 the Present Perfect

I. The analysis of the teaching material:
Module 4 Seeing the doctor Unit3 language in use is from the book Foreign language and Research Press( book 4).This unit focus on the grammar the Present Perfect and the topic health and hygiene.
So this unit is designed in two periods.The first period is the grammar practice from Activity1 to Activity3.The other one is the topic in use as well as the culture around the world.This lesson is my first period. II . The analysis of the students
Students have learned the key structure “have/has+done” to talk about the events that happened in the past but have influence on the present.They can’t make it clear that long action in the present perfect,though they learned about the phrases “for/since...”in the Present Perfect in this Module.What’s more,they can’t understand the “long action”and the “short action”in English. III Teaching aims:
By the end of the class,students will able to:
1.Make sure that the Present Perfect to talk about an event starts in the past but continues till now or continue happening in the future. 2.Use “for/since...”in the Present Perfect correctly.
3.Tell the differences between the Present Perfect and the Simple Past tense.
4.Understand the “long action”and “short action”in order to use them correctly in the tense.
5.Be active,hard-working, and have a good team work. IV.Teaching methods:
Situation teaching , graphic method ,games,Pair work.
V.Teaching steps: Step 1 lead in Have a small talk:
Have you ever been here?( I’ve been here many times) Have you ever seen the teachers behind you?
(Miss WU is one of the best teachers in our school. She won a prize yesterday.she has taught in our school for 5 years.she’s young but she has been very popular since she became a teacher.greet Miss WU) Where is the other teacher?
(Mr Ding, he is behind the glass wall.He has been here for 20 minutes because he has got ready to record our class. Have you got ready for it?) Purpose: have a small talk and lead in topic with key points “the present perfect”
Step 2 What have we learned according to the key sentences Students open their book on page30,read the sentences in the green box ,then talk about What they have learned according to the key sentences.
Purpose :Get ready for the next step,students get t o know what they have learned in this unit.
Step3 have /has done ....for/since
Use a time line to show the that the Present Perfect to talk about an event starts in the past but continues till now or continue happening in the future.
Then look at the following pictures and talk about how long they have done something with “for/since”in the present perfect 1.I have studied English for 6 years./since 2013.
2.You have taught English for 16 years/since 16 years ago/since you became a teacher.
3.He has played badminton since 2017/two years ago.
4.Wei Shutong hasn’t danced for 2 years/since she went to Primary School.
5.They haven’t played for NBA since they hurt.
After that ,students experience and summary the differences between the simple past tense and the present perfect.
The purpose: Make sure that the Present Perfect to talk about an event starts in the past but continue till now or continue happening in the future.
Step4 Work in three and practice Activity 1
Work in three. The first student asks the five questions in activity 1 ,the second student answer the questions,and the third one makes a report like this.
S1: How long have you had your bike? S2: I’ve had it for two years.
S3: S2 has had a bike since two years ago. Activity2
The first time, students ask the questions while the teacher answers them. The second time,students fill in the survey ,and then tell the results in the whole class.
Purpose:Students will be able to talk about their daily life. Use “for/since...”in the present perfect correctly. Step 5 the long action and short action
Play games for fun in order to experience the “long action”and “short action” .then give more examples and try to remember them.Look at some pictures and talk about them.
for example ,Hawking died in 2018,he has been dead for about one and a
half years.
The purpose:make sure they know using the long action to express the action continuing till now in the present perfect but hey can use short action in the negative sentences.
Understand the “long action”and “short action”in order to use them correctly in the Present Perfect tense.
Step 6 Exercise
1.Fill in the blanks with for/since. 2 Choose the right answer. Step 7 Homework
Make at least five sentences with “ for/since...” in the present perfect to talk about your health living or problems.
Purpose: Get ready for next class focused on health and hygiene. VI board design
