Unit 9 Lesson 4 Car Culture教学设计
The text is about some problems we face every day and how to minimize them, which focuses on reading.
Teaching aims. 1. Knowledge aim.
To make Ss grasp words and phrases such as highway, construction, pavement, amount and so on 2. Skill aim.
To train Ss’ reading ability, including scanning and careful reading. 3. Moral aim.
To make Ss have a correct attitude towards problems on the road nowadays and behave themselves when using the roads.

Step 1 8’ Retell T introduces the learning goals of this lesson: T asks “Do you remember what we have learned last time in period 1?”and shows two pictures of car. T guides Ss to retell the story following the time order. Ss retell the passage with the help of PPT. To get a general idea of what they will learn
in this class.

Step 2 10’
Summary
T summarizes traffic accident and
says there must be some reasons for each person.
T helps Ss figure out the factors that
may have led up to this phenomenon by referring back to the text.
T shows an example. (One of the
reasons that may lead up to this phenomenon is “human activities, and shows a supporting sentence.) T asks Ss to name the factors and
supporting sentences that they have found.

Grammar
T guides Ss to focus on the
supporting sentences and study the grammar rules (as shown in the table of Students’ Worksheet ).
Ss read the supporting sentences
picked out from the text, work in pairs to summarize the rules.

seems difficult for Ss (as shown in the Students’ Worksheet ). To study and summarize grammar rules in context. To train their independent leaning and cooperation.

Making sentences
T provides some situations with
pictures and words or phrases for Ss to make sentences by using linking words. To practise grammar in given context. IW CW

Guessing game
T introduces a guessing game by
asking each group to prepare some clues of their favourite car for others to guess. Ss must use some linking words in their clues.
T shows an example to help Ss better
understand the game rule, and asks each student to provide at least one factor.
Ss form groups to prepare the factors
of a person for others to guess.
Ss perform in front of the class and
let the rest of the class guess the person.

Homework
Write a short passage about your understanding of the passage and the factors that lead up to this phenomenon.
