Teaching aims: Knowledge aims:

2. Ss will be able to master the following sentences structures: April Fool’s Day takes place on….
People play all kinds of tricks and jokes on each other. By the time people realized that …, … had…. By the end of …,, …had…
3. Ss will be able to learn some reading strategies. Ability aims:
1. Ss can use reading strategies to comprehend the passage.
2. Ss can learn to write an unexpected/embarrassing…thing that he experienced.
Emotional aims:
1. Ss will be able to know about customs of April Fool’s Day. 2. Ss will be able to know how to play jokes properly. Teaching important points:
Ss can master the key words, phrases and sentence structures well. Ss can use reading strategies to comprehend the passage. Teaching difficult points:
Ss can use proper sentences to describe what happened to them correctly and fluently. Teaching procedures:
Step 1: Warming-up and lead-in.
1. The teacher takes out a box of cookie and ask “If you well, I will give it to you.do you think it’s believable?“ If you do well, I’ll invite all of you to have a big meal. for example spaghetti, do you think it’s believable? or I’ll give you a large mount of money, do you think it’s believable?
2. Present: do you think I’m playing tricks/jokes on you? Do you think it’s a hoax? Do you think you are fooled by me? Have you ever fooled others? Have you ever been fooled by others?
3. T: when did it happen? It happened on April Fool’s Day.
【设计说明】:通过一连串的“do you think it’s believable?”等问题,把本节课的重点单词和词组串联展示出来,并引出了本节课的话题“April Fool’s Day”
Step 2: Before reading
1. T: Do you know the history of April Fool’s Day?
2. There are some famous tricks in the world. For example: The most famous trick---

3. The two tricks are very funny, but not all the tricks have happy ending. Let’s learn more about

3. Read Para.3 and find the answers. Retell the third story by using “ when, who, where, what, result”
