Activity 1 Warm- up and lead-in
Guide the students to discuss whether good manners in different manners are the same and lead in today’s topic.
Activity 2 Pre-reading
Guide students to look through the whole passage and answer two questions.
Activity 3 While-reading
Guide students to skim the interview and match the main idea of each part with proper lines. Guide students to scan Part 1(Line 1- 6) and answer two questions.
Play a video and guide students to scan Part 2 (lines 7-9) and fill in the blanks. Guide students to listen to Part3&4 (lines 10-22) , judge Y or N and complete a table. Guide students to retell the passage with the help of a mind map.
Activity 4 Post-reading
Group work. Work in groups of 4 and try to act out the interview. Play a video and guide students to answer 3 questions..
Guide students to understand the meaning of “When in Rome, do as the Romans do”. Guide students to conclude the most important tips when in other countries.
Activity 5 Homework
Read the interview and retell it.
Search for manners in different countries on the Internet and make a poster. Blackboard design:
