Lead-in
The teacher listened to radio on the way to school this morning. Listen to part of it and answer: (1) What’s the name of the radio station? (2) What’s the name of the radio programme? II.
Pre-listening
1. Discuss: (1) Do you often listen to radio?
(2) What kind of programmes do you like listening to? (3) What do you not like listening to? 2. Brainstorm the relevant vocabulary. Where – radio station, newsroom, studio Who – director, reporter, editor, presenter What- interview, news, national, international III.
While-listening
1. Listen and check the types of news you hear. 2. Listen again and complete the sentences.
3. Watch and find what Tony and Lingling did at Radio Beijing.
4. Listen and fill in the blanks.
5. Check the answers and make deeper analysis.
(1) the meaning of on air; what we should do when it’s on air (2) why it gets crazy in the newsroom before the programme begins (3) why Lingling and Tony have different ideas about the sports news 6. Listen and read after the tape. IV.
Post-listening
1. Discuss: (1) How can you become a good presenter? (2) How can you make a good radio programme 2. Pairwork.
