This class we will learn how to read time and talk about one’s daily routines.. Through talking about one’s daily routines, the students can read time easily in their real life. Most of the students are interested in this class , because the content is close to people’s life. The teacher should use pictures, listening, speaking, and pair work to lead the students listen and speak, so that the students can understand and communicate with others. Teaching Procedures Step 1 Leading in
1、Let the students enjoy a short video and find out the question in the video. T: What’s the question in this video ? S: What time is it ? T: You’re right !
2、Showing some pictures of different clocks, let the students answer “ What time is it ? ”
Step 2 Let’s watch and learn
T : Today we will learn a new method to read times in English. Look at the rules: 1、In English we use o’clock only at the full hour. Example : 2:00 ---- Two o’clock . 2、In English we use “ past ”to say times after the full hour until 30 minutes . Example : 1:10—ten past one .
3、In English we use “ Half past ” to say times at the 30 minutes. Example : 1:30 — half past one .
4、In English we use “ to ” to say times after 30 minutes until full hour . Example : 2:40 —twenty to three . Step 3 Let’s practice
1、Showing some different times, let the students read them in group. 2、Ask each group of students to read. Step 4 Let’s work on 1a and 1b
1、Ask the students to finish 1a by themselves.
2、Check the answers with their partners, using the conversations in 1b. Step 5 Let’s practice
1、Let the students think about their daily life , and practice the conversation in pairs.
