The topic of this unit is calendar. The main content of this part is: Zoom is introducing his summer vacation plan. The function is to use the general future to ask holidays and activities. The whole story is to let students understand how to use “What will you do?”, “I’ll…” to communicate with others and express what is going to happen.   ⅡThe analysis of students: 
After learning the main knowledge of the unit, students have mastered the key sentences and vocabulary. It will help them to understand the story, and also pave the way for the final writing.    Ⅲ Teaching objectives: 
a) Students are able to understand the story with the help of the video; 
b) Students will be able to use the key sentences “What will you do?/I’ll…”; 
c) Students will be able to role play the dialogue with the help of the 
 
 
 
 
 
teacher. 
d) Students will be able to describe their recent plans.    ⅣTeaching important points:

 Step1 Pre-reading 
       1.1 Greeting: Good morning, boys and girls.        1.2 Play a game: Guess what holidays they are.        In what holiday can we watch the moon with families?        In what holiday can we eat turkey and say thanks to every one?        In what holiday can we meet Santa Claus? 
       In what holiday can we students do not have classes?  
[设计意图] 利用guessing game复习本单元的重点句型What will you do? I’ll…,为Story time的学习做好铺垫。

   2.1 Present the story 
    Boys and girls. It’s April now. The summer vacation is still three months away. But early planning is always good. Our old friend Zoom made a plan. Turn to page 31. Let’s read Zoom’s plan. 
2.2 Scanning 
1) Read and circle: Where will Zoom go in the summer vacation? 2) Read and underline the answers. What will Zoom do in Xinjiang? 
What will Zoom see in Huangshan Mountain? 
     2.3 Role play 
       2.3.1Zoom’s plan is so wonderful. Let’s read it following the video.  
       2.3.2 Role play with your partners. Then ask two partners to show us. 
     2.4 Watch a video and answer 
       2.4.1 What a nice summer vacation plan. But Zoom forgot an important thing. What is it? Let’s watch a video.        2.4.2 What will you do before the test? 
       Zoom forgot the maths test. What will you do before the test?        Don’t forget: Study hard before the test. 
[设计意图]新课呈现之前将Early planning is always good这一文化渗透给学生,让学生体会early planning是良好的习惯,接着层层推进
 
 
 
 
 
阅读让学生了解Zoom的暑期计划,但Zoom却忘了下周一的maths test,在这里自然地让学生明白study hard before the test. 
   Step3 Post-reading 
     3.1 Read a picture book: Travel plan 
    In February, My family will go to Confucius Temple. We’ll watch a Lantern show and eat sweet dumplings. 
    In May, I’ll go to West Lake with my cousin. We’ll take photos on the bridge. We’ll go boating in the lake, too.  
    In August, I’ll go to the grassland. I’ll ride a horse there. I’ll also try some milk tea.  
    In October, I’ll go to Mogao caves. The pictures on the caves are amazing. I’ll paint pictures for them.  
[设计意图]绘本阅读可以给学生一个示范作用,可以为接下来的写作环节提供一些思路。             3.2 Group work 
       Four students in a group and make “summer vacation plan”.  
   3.3 Let some groups to show their plans. 
[设计意图]写作之前,利用思维导图呈现写作中可能用到的单词和词组,降低难度,让学生思路清晰并且有话可写,这一环节也是让学生将所学知识加以运用,做到学以致用。
