1. A video about the universe. 2. Warming-up
T: Wow, you look so surprised about the video. What is the video about, English or Science?
T: Yes, today I am your new Science teacher, but I speak English. This class, Please try to read out new words and you can get these presents. OK?
T: Let’s try from my English name. Who can read it? 3. Guess and say
Look this is our Science book. It is a picture book. That means it have a lot of pictures and some words. Do you like reading picture books? 1) Look at the front cover. What can you see?
There is only one book. So let’s look at the computer. S: I can see many stars. T: There’re a lot of stars in the sky. S: I can see a boy.
T: In his hand, there’s …telescope [te-lis-kop] (板书)
2)T: Can you find anything else on the cover? Who writes the book? S: Jean Marzollo. (吉恩.玛佐洛) T: The second people ,what does he do?
‘Illustrated’ means he draws the pictures of the book. He’s an illustrator. (板书) 3)T: When can we see stars? S: At night.
T: Really? All the nights?
T:What is a star? Do you know? How can we see stars clearly? T: Don’t worry. The book will tell us. Let’s read it together. 二、 While-reading 1. Read together and answer
1) Can we see stars in the daytime? Why? 2) Can we see stars on a cloudy night? Why? 3) When can we see the star?(板书)

2. Look and Talk
T: How many stars are there in the sky? (countless)
To study stars, people divide the stars into groups. Just like you are sitting in different groups. It is called constellations.(板书) [con-stel-A-shuns]
T: Let’s look at the constellations on our picture book. What does it look like? ---- A lion---- Leo (狮子座) ---- A crab----Cancer (巨蟹座) ---- A snake---- Ophiuchus (蛇夫座) ---- A big bear/dipper----Great Dipper (大北斗七星)
---- A small bear/dipper----Little Dipper (小北斗七星) North Star= Polaris
T: Why do we call it North Star? 3. Read in groups and underline
1) Why do we call it North Star? 2) Is the Sun a star? Why? 3) Is the moon a star? Why?
Tip:
First, read part II in groups
Second, underline the reasons on the paper. Third, Circle the new words you can’t read.
4. Watch and think Is our earth a star?
T: Let’s watch a video about them (宇宙星空视频) fixed star(恒星)----planet(行星)----satellite(卫星) T: Can we live on the Sun, the Moon?
We can just live on the earth. Love our earth and protect it. T: Is there really only one earth in the universe?
Maybe this is for you to explore. I hope some of you can be astronomers [as-TRON-o-mer].

1. Look at the blackboard, what do we learn today?
T: It’s time for you to retell the book in groups. You can just choose one part, and add some your own words.
Imagine you are a star. Can you introduce yourself in groups?(小组表演) 2. T:Except the science star we learned on the book, we have other stars around us. For example, we can see stars on magic sticks. 1)Where can you see a star?(小组讨论) Flags T: Which country is it? China USA 2)How many ways can you make a beautiful star?
Cut a star----draw a star---- fold a star----make a star with fingers 3)Do you know a song about a star? Let’s sing it together?
With the nice song, Take out you English notebook , write down the words we learned today, and decorate it with beautiful stars you’ve got.
