Give Ss some guidance in finding correct answers. Work independently and find the correct answer of each question.
Task 4 careful reading
Get Ss to read the passage carefully and finish several questions.
Present the questions and lead Ss to get the correct answer. Read the passage again and finish the detailed questions,
Task 5 discuss and summarize the qualities of a good athlete
 
Guide the Ss to think of some words to describe a good athlete Discuss in small groups and write down the words
Task 6 a short speech
To make Ss give a short speech  
Give some words to help them Prepare the speech and show

warming up
Get Ss involved in the lesson by a guessing game
Look at the pictures, according to the information ,tell the athlete's name
Show time:
who is your favorite athlete?
 You like him or her because......
Before reading
   Look the pictures and predict
   Where does the text come from?
   Look and discuss:
   Who are the living legends of sports?
   How much do you already know about Lang ping?
   Play a video about Lang ping and her team
   Show two charts to learn more her achievements
   Show a poster to recommend a film
Skimming
 1 what is this paragraph mainly talking?
 2 Can you divide it into four parts?
 Scanning: 
 Read paragraph 1again and answer the questions
  1 Who is Lang ping?
  2What did Lang ping bring to our country?
  3What difficulties did Lang ping face?
 Paragraph 2
 Show some pictures and say something about Michael Jordan
   His nationality ,which team he is on ,his magic skills ,his success in  business ,his uniform number and so on
Scanning:
Read paragraph 2 and answer the questions
1. What does the first sentence in the paragraph introducing Michael Jordan mean?
2. What made Jordan more impressive?
3.What is the secret to his success?
Summary:
From the story of Lang Ping and Michael Jordan, summarize the qualities(品质) a good athlete should have
